jumping into the rabbit hole, which amp sim?

Just picked up a Scarlett 2i2 2nd gen and I'm trying to decide which amp sim(s) for hard rock/metal sounds. Based on a bunch of YouTube clips, I'm leaning towards Thermionic or Kuassa Creme, any other suggestions?

You can always try some of the LePou and Ignite sims too, they're free and they both have free IR loaders too. There's tons of free cab IRs out there too.
It's a good place to start before you invest any coin in plugins

I've never tried Thermionic or Kuassa Creme, but I do like LePou's recto and 6505 sims.

Quoted for truth.
Mercuriall is killing it for me lately...I bought their U530 sim and loved it. They offered me a deal on the Spark sim and I grabbed that too. There are free trials for both, give em a shot.

downloaded the trial version of Thermionic, played with it for about 4 seconds so far, potentially good but will definately require some tweaking. Anybody have suggestions on dialling out the plasticky modeller direct sound in the high mids/treble?

Can't go wrong with the Ignite Amps plugins... I really like their Emissary amp sim coupled with their TPA-1 tube amp simulator into their NadIR impulse loader. That combination turns out some great results.

I downloaded Ignite Emissary, but Ableton doesn't seem to see it for some reason, probably extreme NOOB operator error but I played with Thermionic a bunch more and was able to get some pretty useable sounds out of it, once I RTFM

Did you download into the folder where your other plugins are? Did you download the right format?

Should be the right version, and I tried it in a couple of different folders with other plugins, I can see them but not it

hmmm.... Sometimes if the bit depth isn't correct, it won't be seen... Are you running 64 bit or 32 bit? Did you make sure to choose the right bit depth? I don't mean to sound condescending in anyway. Take for example, Mixbus 32c 64 bit will only see 64 bit plugins even if there are 32 bit plugins within the folder. What DAW are you using?

He's using Ableton. I'm guessing 32 bit and he is trying to load 64 bit? I'm using Ableton 32 bit and this has happened to me a few times.

Figured it out, I assumed the 64bit would be second in the list of downloads when it was first, 64 bit version worked fine.
Emissary is pretty good but I am getting a bit of that cocked wah sound in the highs that I wasn't having too much luck dialing out. I was using one of the default cabs in Recabinet 5.

I've found that the impulse you use makes much more of a difference than the ampsim. Check out Rosen Digital and the TSE x50 v2 if you want to get some great tones with minimal effort.
