Rewire LP

Post by kissmyace »

My Epi LP Ultra ll has the controls on a circuit board. I know normal ones can be rewired, but mine has the piezo pu at the neck and 2 inputs. Has anyone rewired these ??

nice job, billy

Uggg. i hate those circuit boards.

That is a guitar that would come into my shop (with the piezo), asked to be re-wired and i'd say... uhhhhhhhhh. I'm a guitar tech, not an electrical engineer ;)

How do you want to rewire it? Is the piezo board part of the main board? Usually i'd start with ripping everything out and just wiring it up with new switch and pots, but the piezo part, if it is on the main board, would obviously cause an issue there. If it's on it's own board, it should be fairly simple.

That's a good diagram. I'd really liked to have rewired my xtSA and replaced the pickups, but it can't happen witout removing synth control, and that's the main reason for keeping that guitar.

I doubt u will notice enough of a difference in switching all the wiring/pots to justify the money and time needed, especially being its not a standard lp type hookup with the piezo etc. especially if you aren't changing values and just putting different brand pots or caps.
