Hello all,

I picked up this little amp yesterday for a few bucks. I found it in a local amp repair store and thought I could turn it into a first project. I was told that someone had tried to convert to a solid state amp (see photos) and that the tubes had been removed. When I got it home I pulled the chassis out to find that the tubes were still there (and not just any tubes but Telefunken from Germany but I don't know if they work). Now to my question or point, I've been looking everywhere for a schematic or wiring diagram that uses these tubes (ECC83 preamp, 2 ECL86 power amp, EZ81 rectifier) and haven't been able to find anything. Do any of you know of one or have enough knowledge to put one together? I would like to think it a simple project since there is just a volume and tone knob. I don't dare plug it in (would any of you?) by the looks of the wiring. Has anyone ever heard of this brand of amps? Again, I can't find any information on Amateur amps. I'd like to build a nice clean sounding amp. Any comments to point me in the right direction would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm guessing it should be around a 5 watt amp right?

The ECL86 is 2 tubes in one. It's basically an EL84 power tube with a single 12AX7 triode in the same case. Hammond used them as a space saver in their AO44 reverb amps. There's several conversion schematics floating around the web for those.

One amp circuit that comes to mind which would work with that tube compliment is a Marshall 1930. They used a pair of 12AX7's and a pair of ECL86 tubes. Dump the EZ81 rectifier in favor of diodes to free up some heater current to power an additional 12AX7 and you're good to go.

Amp in case is a later incarnation Suprem.

These later amps by Suprem doesn´t hold the quality of the earlier builds,like the Club et al,but are nice amps all said and done all the same.

Suprem was a brand based in Lingfeldten (sp) just south of Stuttgart. I´ve had my head into a number of them and their setup is rather..unminstaken.

The Amateur was their entry amp at the time. Mainstay of their production was EL-34 based amps.









Here an earlier Club Deluxe. A twin EL-34 amp fed by a GZ-34 rectifier. Rather light 112 combo of a mere 14kg.

Hi there, I'm new to the forum so a big hello to you all. I'm renovating a Suprem Super 85 mixer amp. It's 4 channel inputs, 7 ecc81 and 2 el34 with a bridge rectifier. I used it for gigging 20 yeas ago, bought it off a guy in Saarbrücken and now I'd like to bring it back to life. Does anyone know this model? I'd be glad of any infos. A wiring diagram would be beyond my wildest dreams. I'll put up some photos when I manage to reduce the size to 250kbs. Many thanks in advance, all the best, Angus

There´s a few schematics floating around. Mind you,the different Suprem amps of the same era often share characteristics.

Yes. Of course it can be overhauled to work like new. No argument. Often the Suprem amps,apart from fresh electrolytics and what not,are about tidying up. In fact it might be a good idea to ponder the use of a turret or tagboard instead of the stock solution.

Hey guys!
I know I'm late but I got the same amp recently and I'm trying to service it. It's looking good for it's age and it's working but it has some smaller issues (a bit dull sounding), old caps that are probably bad or will go bad soon, a cracked resistor, etc. But I like it quite well and want to put it in my living room as a practise amp, but until then: Does anybody have the schematics for this amp? I'm pretty sure everything on my version is original but I want to make sure and couldn't find any schematics online.
