Would have loved to seen the shit storm or restrained to full on racism all over the news for awhile.

Shouldn't be surprised though, I mean the guys that elected this guy were all put in there by Paul or Benedict so obviously they're likely to continue the established tradition.

He was a compromise candidate I'm betting. He was the runner up last time and this time I'm thinking they were deadlocked and compromised on him. He won't make any real changes, will die within a decade (along with some of the old guard cardinals) and possibly, just possibly the pope after him will start some reform.
Its doubtful though. The church hierarchy seems more interested in keeping their power and tradition than bringing the church into the modern age. I sort of think they figure they have SA sown up and are expanding in Africa, who cares what the "radicals" from Europe and NA think since the churches there aren't growing.

I'm not Catholic, so doesnt effect me, I reckon.
I saw Nuns in the grocery when I was 4 or 4 & was scared shitless of them, if that counts.

When you see all these cardinals and bishops and shit in groups during these rituals and shit it gives me the heebie geebies. They look evil to me... but that's IMO.

Watched some of it on the news last night... Seems like the Catholic church is all about politics and controlling people's thoughts on social issues rather than religion and Christianity.
