Warm preamp broken = do mic test with rane preamp dms 22.

Rane sounds weird, and shitty after using the warms for so long. Hate it.

That said, I think I'm going to get along with this 1972 md421 just fine.

Money is tight right now, which freakin sucks for buying preamps.

I really blew it when the silver USA Aphex stuff was getting blown out. I have the 500 J Pre. I would like another one. It would help. I could always try plugging directly into the interface, but I'm spoiled now by the Warm. :(

You know I toss up the lunch box all the time and it is amazing . I'll be set for life with that but my go to pre I traded over at sluts for cheaps is an old English Meek . I love this thing !

I did some auto repair for a studio cat several years ago and he traded me some gear for my time . The prizes of this rig are the equi-tech and the Lavry , I could never afford those otherwise . As well as the Demeter which I sent to the lads last year for service and what you can't see the 2 x UAD's and Lynx audio pci's x 2 . hits record.... ahhhh

The small studios would use equi-tech if they can afford it . This would isolate your studio from the surroundings . Not sure if they still make the smaller ones like mine there but that may work for something like mine "project" sized studio . That thing weighs 100 lbs.

even though I still dislike the Rane premap, this MD421 is the SHIT!

It might make me sell my SM7B's. I'll wait until I get my warms back though to give it a better test.

You should hang on to that it will be better for some vocals / voice .

Nice gear fretless, damn. But agreed sm7b is a good vocal mic to keep around regardless.
