I need a new delay pedal. What do you guy's recommend.

So I sold my carbon copy recently, and am looking to try something else. I plan on spending my tax return on some new gear. I loved the darker repeats on the cc, would like to find something similar, with at least 400ms of delay. Also, I would like to keep it analog, digital delay's do nothing for me.
Whatcha got?

So if you liked the CC, why did you get rid of it? It goes to 600 ms of delay time...
If you are looking for something different, the new Way Huge Echo-Puss sounds really good! I was recently looking to purchase one, but I decided to purchase another delay that I have been looking at for quite some time. I have also heard the Malekko 616 MkII is a great unit too.
I ended up getting a Tonerider AD-1 and I like what I am hearing. It was warm repeats, that seem to distort just slightly as they are fading out. I definitely think it sounds great! Though, I have only spent a day with it [as I just got it yesterday]. I have never compared this to the Carbon Copy, so I don't know if this unit has darker repeats like the Carbon Copy or not... The unit runs $99 if price is of concern.
This is what it looks like:

Here is a sound sample of it that made me want to check it out [this plus I have used some of Tonerider's other pedals and they were quite awesome sounding].

I probably shouldn't have gotten rid of it, it sounded great, I just think it's time to switch things up a bit on the pedal board. The Malekko is on my short list though. That tonerider sounds great too.

I am not good at doing demos, but I could try and record some of my delay pedal for you... If you would like...
I was planning on doing a NDD [new delay day] post with some clips anyway.

Not a delay guy at all, but I've gotten some nice sounds out of this:

A little bit pricy but still great, the tech21 boost DLA (though I do not like the design of v2). The tone control allows you to set the colour of the repeats, and the trails switch is something I would miss going with other units. You can't go wrong if you get a golden one used or nos.

Here you go!
I tried getting some different values, but they didn't vary too much from one another. Also this is my Egnater Tweaker 15 head into my ported 1x12 cab with a Fane Medusa 150 speaker. The guitar is my Yamaha Pacifica 912 with stock custom Dimarzio pickups [HSS]. The first 5 segments were the neck single coil [which is supposed to be similar to an HS-2], the distorted segments are with the bridge humbucker [supposed to be similar to a PAF Pro]

Was gonna recommend a VFE Blueprint, if you liked the CC but wanted something a bit different, but I don't think it's analog. It sounds pretty damned good, though, and I've actually gone back & forth between it and my Carbon Copy quite a bit, so it's in that ball park, fwiw (& ymmv, o' course).

The video on Pro Guitar Shop's website of the VFE sounds phenomenal! I was looking at that pedal too... Though I thought I would try the Tonerider since I thought it was unavailable but wasn't really.
I would love to try the VFE!

The use of 's for plurals is not cool.
Anyway, I have actually quit analog delay. I have found that the strymon timeline i have does such a good approximation of a DMM that I almost couldn't tell a difference A/B and preferred the dBucket delay's functions and features since I could dial back the noise and get the same warmth.
However, as far as analog delays go, it's pretty hard to beat a DMM in my opinion.

My main delay for a long time was a DMM modded by Analogman, but for me, the Carbon Copy kicked it off my board & I sold the DMM soon after getting the CC. Differ'nt strokes, I s'pose.

+1. I also have a tech 21 boost dla version 1. it's a great pedal. sometimes you can get good deal on used one on ebay. i only use it sparingly as for either some subtle delay or for rockabilly slap back echo both of which it does well.

I was about to say the Malekko. I am thinking about getting one to match with my carbon copy

I have owned a ton of delay pedals but the EQD Disaster Transport owns all. The Sampler Analog Echo is a close second.

The tonerider pedals are pretty cool. A little larger than I expected, but they sound good.
