My buddy told me that they need somebody to just play some leads Saturday. I told him a couple of weeks ago that I would. He initially told me also that it wasn't really important if someone played leads or not because they have done gigs without a lead player before. There are already two guys in the band play guitar. There is a rhythm guitar Guy on an acoustic and another guy playing rhythm on electric can play some solos. I would be the third guy. Basically, I'm just going to be showing up and scoring around in the modes for the songs. That's about it. The downside is that I have to wear a tie and a vest and I have to play stuff like Spice Girls. No, I am not lying. Spice freaking girls.

I want to jump ship. Can I ? Pays $100 but not worth it.

My initial thought is: Is the guy a close enough friend where you don't mind bailing on him or is he a close friend that you don't mind doing favors for?

I would do it, kinda sounds like fun to be honest, provided there's a good crowd.

All things being equal, a chance to get out and play in front of people with virtually none of the responsibility for making sure the band/show is "good" seems like a win/win, to me. Maybe I'm just missing gigging at the moment? Do you like to jam? Then go and have fun, even if the songs are lame as hell. Hey, lame songs sometimes mean hot chicks dancing & being silly ~ so maybe we're talking win/win/...win?

Playing lead guitar for a crown that will likely be a bunch of hot chicks (at least based on the shitty music). Fucking sounds like a fucking win to me.

True. Spice girls with harmonic minor solos that are way too loud. I might could make that work.

I have a peavey xxx and could sound check with clean and rhythm and keep ch3 a +9db surprise and then try to fit some hangar 18 stuff in there between verses and choruses.

And at a nice Hotel..
