One of my local guitar techs is a bit of a charming crazy man; but truth be told he tends to
be right about stuff. This weekend he was telling me about running J or P/J pickups in series.

Short version - has anyone here done this ? And NOT INCLUDING noise/hum reduction, how did you like the sound and response ?

Never heard of it - but seeing as I am re-wiring a P/J bass shortly, I am interested.
