Plugin gas...

I've come to realize that commercial plugins really make a big difference in mixes vs freebies (shocker, I know).

Currently gassing for this one because it seems to have a unique sound to it, not crazy expensive and a good utility plugin instead of a gimmick:

Post your paid plugins you find are worth the money? Personally I'm a big fan of Slate and Stillwell.

Valhalla vintage verb changed my life for $50

The focusrite red suite is $300, and it would probably be worth it if it hadn't been free.

Whenever I talk about plugins, I always mention the BBE Sonic Suite: Harmonic, Sonic and Loudness Maximizers.
Not talking about the pedal, which I never used.

I never record without the Sonic and Harmonic Maximizers.
They are essential plugins and at US $149.00, there's no reason not to get them... unless you paid US $495.00 the Aphex Aural Exicter plugin.

Ever tried the Valhalla Shimmer Verb? Kind of curious about it.

Ajax, if you like the sonic maximizer go download the Slate Revival, it's free. You need to have an iLok stick for it though.

Cheers! I'll download it tonight... I'm rocking PT10 with the annoying iLok

The Vintage Verb is totally worth the $50... easy to use and sounds great!
I bought it shortly after Gene reviewed it two weeks ago.

I don't like shimmer. So I haven't looked at it.

Oh yeah, this one is awesome as well, from anything like subtle tape saturation on the master bus to a completely glitched out sequencer:

For just pure tape saturation simulation I still grab the Slate VTM 75% of the time over the Saturn though. For anything else, especially modulation this plugin is completely nuts. :D

All right! Just checked out the Waves site for the first time and I found a plugin that I've been wanting...
