Dumb question about USB-cable/recording Yamaha THR

Soooo, first off I'm a dumbass.... I have a Yamaha THR 5, have had it for a few years. So just recently I learned that it is apparently really easy to record with it... Just install the software that comes with the disc (I have this) and then hook it up to the PC with the USB-cable.... Well, I can not seem to find that damn cable... And it would be nice to have a longish one so the amp doesn't have to sit right next to the PC... So I have a few questions:

1. Am I correct in thinking that it is this easy to use it for recording (Guitar plugged in to THR 5, then a USB-cable from the THR 5 to the PC?)... I obviously need to install recording software
2. Is there a "generic" USB-cable that would fit, preferably one that is about 5 feet long?
3. I bought the amp from Germany if memory serves me correctly, I am thinking this USB-cable thingy wouldn't be that hard to purchase from a music store here in Sweden that carries the Yamaha THR amps.... I did try to google "USB cable for Yamaha THR 5" but came up short, just links to stores that sell the actual amp

And yes, I am pretty stupid  - at least when it comes to these kind of things - hope I can get a few pointers here.....

You need recording software and I think there's something that came with these, but nonetheless there are several cheap ones you can grab.

It's a standard USB cable that you need.

Yes, any USB cable that fits will work.

Download and install the USB driver from the yamaha website before connecting the usb cable.

The amp should have came with a Cubase disc, which is recording software

Once you have Cubase installed, and the amp connected, run Cubase. You may have to select the Yamaha THR as your input and output in the 'VST Connections' section of Cubase if it doesnt do it automatically

There are a couple of types of USB cables, the only difference being the type of connector on each end. You need a USB-A to USB-B cable that looks like this:

They are very common, but just make sure you get the right connectors. Most people think of a USB-A to USB-A cable as being the typical USB cable, which is not what you want.

Edit: Sex Panther linked a good one to use :thu:
