EZ Drummer 2 libraries

I finished my first full track using EZ Drummer 2 this weekend and it took me forever, as I am still getting the hang of it, but have to say the final results were fantastic!!!

One thing I've noticed is that the Tap 2 find feature is not giving me a lot of results because I only have the stock libraries that came with it. I need to buy some more libraries ASAP, but which ones? I am mostly looking for hard rock, some metal, doom, blues etc.... no full blown modern metal, no jazz or latin or anything like that.

Also, I know that my Slate drums also have some built-in libraries, any way I can get EZ-Drummer to work with those libraries as well??

I will try to find out the answer to that later today for you... I bought a tutorial video from Groove 3 on EZDrummer and EZDrummer 2. Maybe they will talk about using other libraries from other companies...

I was debating on getting some extra libraries too... The Made of Metal and Metalheads libraries look good.

In - definitely looking for same / similar libraries.

Billy - how'd you do the drum programming - piano roll, or other method?

Just looking at the interface for EZ drummer at Billy's made me think I made the wrong choice with SSD4. EZ drummer looks so much... easier...

I recently snagged one of these for MIDI controlling my VSTi plugins...

This works really, really well for me!

I use this and the Tap2Find feature.

Can't recommend this little unit highly enough. Great purchase for like $50 or something... makes life a LOT easier.

Check youtube man. Look for EZX and expansion name. They usually have a "making of" that'll show a lot of the beats for the packs. The problem is, some of the rock stuff is too mellow and most of the metal stuff is pretty extreme. Made Of Metal might be a good one for you,

Hmm...I need to get one of these. I used to have the Korg padKONTROL for programming but it was kinda overkill. That thing looks perfect as long as the pads are really sensitive (the main reason I like using those is to capture actual human variations in velocity).

They are more sensitive than a real drummer.

I'm glad to hear that pad works well. Will be ordering one this summer, for sure!

Yeah I need one of these.

Billy showed me his new tune and let me take a very brief look at EZ drummer. I thought the sensitivity and feel of triggering samples with this thing was ace.

I might need to grab this little controller. I have decided I can tap out better beats than what comes provided in most midi packs...

Are these 2 packs mostly modern, double bass stuff or do they have some nice rock grooves as well??

And yeah I am definitely just buying the MIDI files... I am happy with the stock drum sounds on EZ Drummer sounds, just need more beats.

These are what i consider o be the most versatile "metal" packs.

Try here:
https://www.toontrack.com/product-categ ... rline/ezx/

Click on the box and they will have some sound cloud clips as well as a "making of" which SHOULD give you an idea of what you want. I don't necessarily need all the additional kits as I think the stock ones are pretty good AND the midi's work with my Slate drums with a minimal bit of finagling. A few cymbals are different but thats an easy and fair compromise.

You can buy a 6pack of midi files for like $80

Yeah I also feel like the straight up Deluxe Rock Kit on Steven Slate is good enough in terms of drum sounds. All I need are midi loop files too.

I have been able to use Addictive Drums midi files with EZ Drummer 2 by opening EZ2 in my DAW and just copy and paste the midi track from AD into the track. Also tracks that have AD already on it. I just change the FX in Reaper from AD to EZ2. Of course you may need to tweak it a little but the beats are there.
