TASCAM US-366 4X6 or 6X4 USB Audio Interface - opinions?

Today's SDOTD from MF, $99. I'm looking for simple interface for doing drum jams and also something with a digital input so I can use the digital out on my Torpedo Live. Direct recording only.

Anyone have any experience and/or opinions on this interface? Would this one clip easily like the low end Focusrite?

That seems like a good deal, but I have no idea on how good it is... Markdude really talks up the E-mu interface and it has digital inputs... I don't know he got a new interface recently, he might be selling it...

EDIT: I just noticed that E-mu must not be making them anymore, as I don't see them available online :idk:

Reading some reviews online indicate that is a decent unit. At the STOTD price you are saving $100 compared to the normal pricing. I would say jump on it, if you don't like it, then return it :thu:

The E-MU I love is the 0404 USB. That Tascam seems to have a similar physical layout but I don't think they have anything in common.

I used a US-something for a long time.. only stopped using it when I switch to Win7 which my old unit did not support.. but the point is it sounded great. Love the clear, crisp tone of the preamps on my unit... I suppose the new models are just as good or better.

Nope, didn't act fast enough.

:(

I'll probably hold out and grab a focusrite in a month or two.

I have a Focusrite 18i8 that I would sell you. It isn't the minimalist approach, but you could get more for less than buying new. Let me know!

I activated them already, so I don't know if you will be able to get them or not... I can't remember if they use an unlock code or if they use an email address... Let me do some research on how they activate... I didn't activate the Ableton Live Lite, and yes it comes with it :thu:

I could get you the serial numbers and give you my email address to activate them.

It looks like the 6i6 is the one I want to go for. Sweetwater has a demo for $225 and regular price is $250. And if I call my sales rep and ask for a deal, who knows?

Thanks anyway Cole, much appreciated!

Good points all around. My first Tascam was a 4 track portastudio back in the summer of 1988. I've owned several of their products since and never had a problem with any of them.
