Just bought Recab 4. It's pretty awesome.

Post by exafro »

Hey guys! Its been quite a while since I've been around, and I was wondering if any of you had purchased Recab 4? I just picked it up a couple hours ago and I'm actually really impressed with it. I haven't quite dialed it in to where I'd like it tonewise, but it feels amazing. I'm not saying that it's exactly like a tube amp, but it's close enough that I don't notice it's modeling software when playing. It actually reminds me of the Axe Fx in that regard. The amp choice is kinda limited at the moment, but apparently some amp packs are going to be released in the near future and I'm pretty excited about how it all unfolds, I think it has a chance to be one of those must have plugins for us home studio guys.

Mark, there is a demo version with full functionality. It just has some white noise injected every so often, which can be annoying

Just messed around with it for a bit. I'm not completely happy with the tone, but its almost there. I think with a bit of EQ it'd be pretty awesome.

I bought a copy too... I haven't really messed around with the preamps yet. I liked the power amp emulation though! Really solid upgrade!

I can't listen right now, but I am eager to hear your clip Dennis!

Nice clip! Really love that closing riff. Groovy and tight. :rawk:

Yeah, I bought it right when it came out and along with a tubescreamer type plugin pushing it up front can get some really nice tones out of it. Not my favorite or anything, but definitely livable when writing or tossing around ideas.

Sounds great man, but honestly, everything you post always sounds good!

I am off the plug-ins for guitars for about 6 months or more. Went back to mic'ing low volume amps and now the Kemper. I thought you were rocking the Axe?

Sounds really good to me. But thats pretty much always the case with you. Tone. Composition. Watch out boys, Exafro is about to put his nuts on our collective chin. :cop:

Thanks for listening guys. Jer, I sold the Axe last year to help fund an engagement ring. I'm going to get another Axe or a Kemper when I can justify spending that kind of cash on a hobby, but for now my small collection of VST's has been treating me very nicely. I'm hoping the Dual Channel Recto that is being modeled can be dialed in close to the Lasse Lamert Kemper profiles.

Just did another quick clip with Recab. Found the stems on the Sneap forum a while ago and did a few Axe mixes with it.

The axe clip is a little more "amp" sounding, but I don't necessarily like it more than the recab clip. They both sound excellent.

Just a heads up, they cut the price in half for the basic version of Recab. This software is pretty amazing, without even considering the price point. You guys really need to check it out.

I keep meaning to make more clips with it but every time I bring it up to futz with I dial in a tone and get so tickled I just play for about an hour without hitting the record button. Sooner or later I'll break that habit.

Oh man - that sounds crushing. I keep deleting the Recab 4 marketing emails but I should give this a look.
