Just found out recently that my older half brother lives in Nashville. Spoke to him for the first time in my life on Thursday. He's oddly similar to me, despite completely different upbringings.

This is the most awesome, and yet confusing thing ever. I love this guy. I just went from Marcia Brady to Jan Brady.

Upon speaking, we have some insanely and freakishly similar qualities.

We share a dad, but he has never met my dad. (way to go, dad. )

It's pretty amazing to see how much biology alone shapes someone.

Did he grow up in Nashville? How old is he?

I ask these questions cause I lived in Nashville as a teenager and still have family around there.

Dang! Cool that you wanna meet him though!

I've known some people that were weird about hearing they have half siblings.

Nope... he landed there after getting out of the military. He's been there a few years, and his family is in MI, like mine. He lives in Midtown.

He's 38. 4 years older than me.

Oddly enough, he's a real estate developer, who sits at a desk and makes 100 calls a day. Not dissimilar to my job.

He was married to a Jennifer for 7 years. So was I.

His sister is a screwup with 3 kids from 3 different dads, and is 31. So is mine.

He loves prog metal.

He looks like me, but taller.

We were finishing each other's sentences on the phone. It was so weird. We grew up 10 minutes from each other, and even went to the same school at one point, without knowing each other. We were at the same sports games in school, and remember events we were both at, down to the exact same details. It's nuts.

The 8 inch height difference prolly helped throw em off.

Yeah, same thing happened to me in Junior High except that he was pretty much the exact opposite of me. He ended up moving in with us while I was in High School and it was amazingly weird.

Noone knew. My dad walked out on him when his mom was pregnant, and she kept it from him for most of his life.

The truth always comes out eventually. I'm glad it did.
