Hopefully I will have some contributions that may help some people out.
I play drums as my first instrument, just got a new set of NOS Pearl Vision sparkle red with a tinge of orange, lacquer, maple; and some additional cymbals. I have a dedicated drum room now with a decent sound system to jam along to.
I play guitar also; been playing for a long, long time. I started to play a lot more, every day for a couple hours, since I retired twelve years ago, and I collect decent guitars and amps.
My last guitar was purchased new about three weeks ago: a Gibson Les Paul Junior. I stripped the auto tuners off of it within a week or so, I couldn't stand them any longer - the guitar was never in tune when I picked it up and I had to retune every song or two. I put on regular Grover sealed, cast, lubricated direct drop in ones and I dig these - the gforce auto tuners were complete junk to me. I'm planning on switching the new Grovers to a different guitar and installing the Grover Roto-Grip locking tuners that are also direct drop in. It is a great guitar of very good quality. The wood is really high quality and the neck has a beautiful straight grain and perfect action. Real solid rosewood fretboard. The sides and back are a light mahogany, maybe just lacquered natural, but it is beautiful and contrasts very nicely to the vintage sunburst top. I have always wanted one of these and I worked my best deal and got this 2015. I can say it is a good 2015. A lot of this year's models are not accepted well.
Not much else to say. I'm recovering at home from a very serious, deep but successful surgery. Pain meds, etc. I'm totally up and around, driving, and everything is going well now, a little over a month after the surgery. I had that in Syracuse, NY at the University Hospital.
