Bold choices are kind of odd for an 80's band, but, I would love to be in a band like this.

Three awesome choices. Love me some new wavey INXS, before they decided to get funky. One question: do you really have a singer who can nail all these songs? That Church song is deep and that Outfield song is hiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.

We do some 80's stuff. We do Relax (which doesn't go as good I had hoped), Hungry Like the Wolf, Footloose, Devil Inside (which needs another few tries to see how response is). With 80's pop stuff, I am more inclined to grab the slightly obscure side of things that the audience might not enjoy as much as I do.

How does Pour Some Sugar go over? I have contemplated adding that one, despite my seething hatred of the song lol:)

We worked on Epic a bit, but it fell kind of flat. Too obvious for the music nerds and not danceable enough for the average crowd.

You gotta sell it.

We get in FULL 80's mode. We even have stage names. Spandex, wigs, makeup....all of it.

Gary does. He's a BEAST.

Me and Gene (guitarslinger) are both fill-ins for this band. Gene is a fill in vocalist, and I am fill in lead guitar. These guys are insanely good.

Your life. I want it. ;)

I'm not posting mine, because it's a virtual "why do we even have a guitar player in this band" snooze fest.

If it weren't for me following the bass lines with distorted power chords, and throwing licks in here and there, I prolly wouldn't be in this band.

Having said that, my schedule is full, we make bank at the weddings, and we do rock it out at some of the bars.

I just wish I got to play more gigs with them. They'll play close to 100 shows this year, and I may get 10 or 12 of those if I'm lucky. It's so fun.

Dude---I saw your setlist and it is awesome. Just because you're not playing VH tunes the whole night doesn't mean you can't have fun :) I do my own version of what you describe, play small guitar parts and horn and keys bits. People drink and dance and have fun. Plus, we get booked pretty regular.

Cool setlists.

I'm not in a cover band would love to start a legit 90's cover band. Concentrating mostly on earlier to mid 90's stuff.

Thanks brah. In all fairness, that was a wedding setlist, throw that whole first set out and put in 80/90's tunes, and bookend the end of the night with Eruption, Running with the Devil, Enter Sandman, Separate Ways/Don't Stop Believin', etc, and you have our bar setlist, so, I guess I do gets mine.

It's just all that modern dance stuff that doesn't feature guitar that is tough to stomach at times.

How do you deal with the different guitar tunings? Do you bring a few guitars or do you just change the key to fit standard tuning?

We retab everything to D Standard. Works well.
