Good 7 and 8 string guitar music?

Post by Orbis_Ignis »

Looking for some good 7 and/or 8 string guitar slingers. I've been enjoying Deftones, Animals as Leaders, Periphery, and a little Mushuggah (they give me ear fatigue pretty quickly, lol).

Any recommendations? :rawk:
Guitars: '90 Gibson LP Studio, '14 PRS Custom 22, EVH Black&Yellow, Squire Pro Tone Strat
Amp and Cab Bugera 1990 or 1960 into an Orange 2x12 w/Heritage G12M's or Peavy 2x12 w/Seventy 80's
FX: the pedals I build

Charlie Hunter. The man sounds like a three piece combo.

Give Intervals a spin. Instrumental jazzy heavies. Both their EPs can be found on youtube :thu:

I think I've posted this album in every 7-string thread, so I'll post it here as well.

Yeah, I'm a fanboy.

Definitely check out Textures. I love their stuff. One of the few modern metal bands that I listen to a lot.

HOLD ME.

Next one you need to get is Chimp Spanner's "All Roads Lead Here"... so badass. It's like Megaman is playing heavy jazz in space.

Tony MacAlpine's last release was all 8s. Loved it! I'm a bit of a fan boy though...

Keith Merrow's stuff.

Nevermore/Jeff Loomis.
