I'm considering a JTM1 but at the price I'm close to a real JTM 45 alternative right? Any suggestions? Just playing at apt so I would either need a master volume mod or attenuator? Any other ideas...also bonus for "JTM 45/100, Offset, or other vintage cosmetics. And lets say price range is free to about $1500. Prefer a head, and will decide on a cab later, but for now can use Mesa 4x12 or depending on power- Vox ACTV112 cab.

I actually have a 64 6G6B bassman but is far too loud and not nearly as creamy sounding as the JTMs seem. My bassman seems bright, stiff and crunchy.

Traynor is reissuing the YBA-1 which if I'm not mistaken is pretty much a JTM45

Do you definitely want a tube amp if it's only for apartment playing? Would you ever get it close to overdriven?

That's why I want low watt and/or a good master volume.

look for deals on clones. You can find used amps like Metro amp, or Ceriatone, for under a grand, if you look for them.
My Broe got his JTM 100 clone for about $800.00

Even 1 watt is WAY too much for an apartment.
With a JTM45, there is no such thing as a "good master volume" for apartment volume levels.
Seriously - you're better off with a modeler. A JTM45 (or similar) is an amp that only really comes alive when you get some air moving. If you're using a JTM45 in an apartment, the only thing you're accomplishing is raising your electricity bill and burning tubes. If you really want one for the sake of owning one, by all means go for it, but it is absolutely the wrong tool for the job.
Source: I live in an apartment and own a JTM45.

Well I have a Vox AC4TV that is usable at the 1/4 watt so I figure the JTM1 with a 1/10 watt switch is slightly quieter. Maybe I should just get a JTM45 and a really good attenuator? Modeling is just so boring:(
