Hi everybody,

I'm looking for a pedal that does the Leslie-type sound in Stevie Ray Vaughan's Cold Shot. You know, the warbly but not detuned swirl. I tried my MXR M234 analog chorus but it got too detuned quickly. Tried my MXR Phase 90 but got the feel my sound came from the bottom af a keg of beer.

I'm looking for something that's more or less readily available; since I live in the Netherlands a lot of boutique US pedals just cost too much over here.

Going to be hard to get that exact tone from a pedal because that tone was a Vibroking and Vibratone, if I am not mistaken. Have you tried the chorus slow with low depth along with a little phase? That might get you into that tonal spectrum, but I'm not sure.

I know that Line 6 has the MM4 which models both the Vibratone and Leslie and it should be readily available. That said, I've never actually heard one in person, so I'm not sure how it would actually sound.

laugh, but give the Moen Jimi Zero a try. Dirt cheap & has some great sounds . The more the battery drains, the more of a good univibe sound it gets, IMHO. With a fresh battery or adapter, you can get a sound really close to the Cold Shot thing. Takes a bit of monkeying with, but you'll figure it out.

It should be easy to get ahold of. I think they're in the 40-50 (us) dollar range, new. Sounds WAY better than a Dunlop Univibe, at a fraction of the cost. Sound wise, I'd put it right up with expensive booteek vibes.

Vibe would definitely be a good alternative. That Moen looks pretty sweet for the price. $50 for a true bypass vibe is pretty cool.

Word. When I first got mein, I thought it was "ok". Then after the battery drained down, I fell in love with it.

I'd used drained / nearly dead batterys in fuzz's & distortion pedals, but never thought of trying it with "color" effects. I woulda never dreamed in a million years that a nearly dead battery would sound good in a pedal like that. Gave it more of a "throb" than a warble. Listen to Hendrix @ the Isle of Wight. When he's dicking off before he plays "Hey Baby" ..that's kinda how the Jimi Zero sounds when the battery's low. With a fresh battery, or on a power adapter, it has more of a Robin Trower studio like "warble to it.

Whenit comes to vibes, I've always liked a happy medium, between a Hendrix sound, and a Trower sound, (for doing my own thing)
