Again I'm at odds with popular opinion. I think its pretty meh. Crowbar used to be in my top 5 bands. Liked every record they ever did until sever the stupid hand. That album sucked. It was all about getting clean and all that. Which i can certainly relate, but it makes for a bad record.
This one its just marginally better.. some cool moments. And its consistant. Consistantly meh. It seems mist people who praise it are rather new fans. People who really became fans of Severed. Since to me, that album changed how they sounded. Every one has prolly heard of them for years, But to myself and others who i know, who've listened since 92, this just isn't hitting home.. I think kirks voice and most importantly melodies and delivery are the worst he's done. The drumming is so boring and lame. Buckley is coming from a death metal background and is a great drummer, but his beats are always the same and lack any real groove or power. Craig nunenmacher was by far their best drummer, whch kirk has expressed too. And its most apparent on this record..
But i guess good for them, since it seems to be doing well. But after seeing Kirks bitch action at MDF and just knowing hes a crabby, bitchy guy, idk.. I've kinda grown tired of his sound and attitude

Don't know how anybody couldn't love this album. Just full of great riffs and great production. Tommy Buckley is the best drummer Crowbar has ever had also.

I think Ageless Decay is one of the heaviest things they've ever done.

Come on,I'll acknowledge differing opinions on the music, but Buckley is the most boring of their drummers.
Nunenmacher was this crazy robot. Spot on timing, but a truly unique style. Wicked Cricked had great power and groove. He fit well.. Sid montz was even better Even tho he was just straight up simple kick/snare type drummer.
The other guy who i thought didnt fit was on Sonic, dude used to be in Machine head and now, Buckley(soilent green). Just seems the guys who came from faster bands dont have the right feel. And buckley is relying on his handful if crowbar beats. The songs just blend together cause the beats and fills all feel the same. The best travk is the instrumental which i guess their "mean-muggin" all the time new guitarist wrote. The rest of the album sounds like crowbar doin a parody of themselves. Lol.
I guess I'm just not into it anymore..

I don't find his drumming boring at all. If anything his playing is a little more technical than previous drummers and adds some spice to the simplistic riffs. One of my gripes with crowbar has always been the "stock" drum beats. Not only do I think Buckley is crowbars best drummer I think he is one of the best drummers in metal.
I know we've had this conversation before but it just seems like you aren't into the band anymore. For me sever the wicked hand was a return to their roots with a more old school hardcore/doom vibe when the last couple albums before that were just mid paced groove that kept getting more and more melodic. I don't know if I would consider soilent green a death metal band either. They are definitely a sludge band with hints of grindcore.
