DAW build

My first true build by my lonesome , went together as well as could be hoped for , really no problems at all . Yeah I coulda shoulda went SSD but maybe in another year or , I also left room for a cpu upgrade down the road . But it's pretty bad ass . Running Cubase 7.5 , SSD4 & ezdrummer as Wavelab 6's new update so far so good there. I really wanted to keep my oldschool pci Cards , they work great for what I do . Thankfully Jetway still supports this stuff . It took the ram with zero issues . I called them and they said there was no qualified ram list , any will work as long as it's not "Gamer ram" just keep it to 1333 . It fired right up , can't say that about my old Maximus extreme .

Intel Core i5 3570 3.4 ghz
Jetway JNAF93-Q77 motherboard
Win 7 pro 64bit
Coolermaster Storm 2 advanced case ( case is Awesome ! Has big strong handles on top)
Vision Tek Radeon HD5450 ( cheap but does the job)
G.Skill Ripjaws 1333 16 gb FS-10666CL9Q-166BRL (Thank God finally killer ram)
Western Digital 500 gb VelociRaptor x2 (OS & Cubase 7.5 projects )
Western Digital 500 gb Black (clone)
Dell S2240l LED monitor w/ hdmi ( stunning)
Lynx AES 16
UAD1 x 2

Seagate 1tb Barracuda (samples) (SSD4 & ezdrummer)
XFX XTR 650 pwrsupply

Using a Lavry LE4496 I have 6 i/o so pretty good for a fun project studio I stil can add another AES16 which I have here if ever needed but doubtful

Sweet build. I built my DAW around 6 years ago and she's still going strong, there's definitely a good sense of satisfaction when it all comes together, and bang-for-the-buck wise it's hard to beat it if you shop around for the parts.

Yeah that is a cool case.

Looks nice. That Radeon 5450 is plenty enough video. You got some real meat under the hood. Congrats.

Thanks Fellas ! Hopefully she'll last a few years and down the road I can up the cpu perhaps and maybe move to a ssd . I was very glad to find that Jetway though , seems PCI has changed and damn if you can find a board with very many slots . I may be like the last guy using the UAD1's but they work great :snax:

Lunchbox is a killer way to build a rig , as you can see I still have room for more . One day I'll finish it . 2 x API's for the overheads than probably an EQ and comp or 2 x comps . Those things are killer but my go to pre 99% of the time is that Demeter VTMP , it sounds so good for bass , guitar .. everything you throw at it .

You're giving me serious gear envy. Post a pic of the Mackie when you get a chance. :-t

It's cool and works flawlessly but I don't use it much for my usual goofball recordings . :snax:

I've got a small Korg cheapo but I love it. I'm still learning it but I can have it move sub-groups of faders and move a fader just a touch that my mouse has a very hard time doing. ...after I got the Reaper key-maps for it.

yeah thats true , I actually don't use a mouse anymore . I use trackball thumb trackman . pretty high precision but way nice to use then a mouse , for me . it takes a min to get used to but has zero wrist movement .

My sister has always used a trackball, but I never could get used to them. I actually have had one collecting dust for years that she gave me. Image Prolly not high precision though.

I got a gigantic Sweetwater catalog the other day. Looking at guitars is still fun but I found myself mainly drooling over all the lunchbox modules.

yeah me too , even now I get crazy over them but man can it empty your wallet quick . Still it's the way to go for a killer rig . Even if you just put one pre in it for starters it would let you build on it over time so it's worth doing .
