Just Got Logic Pro X ...

Just bought it and it is downloading now.
Upgrading from Logic Express 9. Any pointers on setting it up? Will my old Logic recordings open up and be fine? I am guessing effects/plug-ins may have been tweaked. Hoping to not notice TOO many alterations to the files. Also, will it recognize my aftermarket plug-in's like Slate, ReCabinet, etc?

I've heard some older plugins may have difficulty, but for the most part you should be golden. Make sure you check the app store for any updates after the main load. Apparently there have been some bug fixes after the initial release that are pretty important.
I have Logic Pro 9 and have been really holding out in the hopes I can justify a whole new recording system before I move to X. My system is so iffy on power right now I'd be afraid it'd suck down more juice and I'd be stuck being able to record two tracks per song and then nothing more. And I like overdubs.
So tell us what you see once you've got it running.

I'm thinking later in the year I might get a MacBook Pro with Logic and a new interface to replace my 10+ years old recording PC. Never used Logic, but I've done some reading up and it seems fairly nifty. Main thing I was worried about was drum programming, but I saw there's some other editor screen thing you can use that actually looks pretty damn sweet.
Being able to use an iPad as an extra control surface would be pretty handy too.

Let us know how it goes. Ive been using logic for the past 3 years. I'll be upgrading once my computer situation gets updated(still running on a G5). Do you use any plug ins? Ezdrummer? Guitar Rig?

So far … I LOVE IT! Works great. For some reason though, it renamed 2 of my plug-ins.
For plug-ins I use:
• Steven Slate Drums 4 Platinum
• ReCabinet 3 (for cab impulses)
• Studio Devil Bass Amp Pro
• Ignite Amps TPA Tube Power Amp sim (makes guitars sound REALLY nice and up front)
