Offbeat/Innovative places to record?

Hey guys -

I've got all my equipment, computer hardware & software, and recording software squared away (still waiting on another microphone)... and I've conquered the intermediate level learning curve of Reaper (and got some pretty decent bedroom volume recordings). I'm ready to take it to the next level -- and I plan on spending hundreds of hours on this... My only problem? Where the hell do I do it?

I can't push my tube amp or do metal screaming in my apartment -- even if I didn't get kicked out, I have too much respect for my neighbors to subject them to that for hours and hours. I don't really know of anyone with a basement or garage I could use (seeing as how I'm going to spending A LOT of time on this). I've thought about contacting storage areas in the area and seeing if they're okay with it... but I would need to get a unit close to electricity and most likely get in my car and leave the premise every time I need to go to the bathroom. Not to mention hauling my big desktop depending back and forth from my apartment (where I'd do most of the mixing) and the unit (where I'd do the recording) (I know, get a laptop :wank: ).

Any ideas or suggestions?

Yes, I'm aware of these places called studios... However, I am planning on spending hundreds and hundreds of hours over the next two years putting together an album. So, that is not an economically viable option for me anytime in the near future (especially because this is a solo thing, I will not have 5 guys chipping in on this - just me and my crappy income). I'm looking for innovative and offbeat ideas.

Also, forgot to mention - drums will be programmed.

Why not get an Isocab?

A Rivera Silent Sister seems to be the most highly recommended one - with very mixed reviews (both in regards to sound quality and sound volume (and I've looked at reviews for other brands as well))... It's $999 and I may very well want to swap out the speaker... and then what about bass and vocals?

I'd really like to come up with a location... but I mean... aside from homes, studios, and storage units, I can't think of anything. :idk:

In retrospect, this thread seems kind of stupid. I wasn't exactly sober when I posted it...

I don't know what I was expecting, like "Oh yeah, most dermatology offices are totally cool with it as long as you don't use the nitrous oxide."

What mamberg posted, rent a spot/time slot in a rehearsal space from some local band. Shouldn't cost you more than $30-40 a month.

We tried to get into an old slate mine with a massive cavern that had totally cool reverb to record on our last album.

They were actually talking to us about it until we said we'd probably want about four days.
