Offbeat/Innovative places to record?

Hey guys -
I've got all my equipment, computer hardware & software, and recording software squared away (still waiting on another microphone)... and I've conquered the intermediate level learning curve of Reaper (and got some pretty decent bedroom volume recordings). I'm ready to take it to the next level -- and I plan on spending hundreds of hours on this... My only problem? Where the hell do I do it?
I can't push my tube amp or do metal screaming in my apartment -- even if I didn't get kicked out, I have too much respect for my neighbors to subject them to that for hours and hours. I don't really know of anyone with a basement or garage I could use (seeing as how I'm going to spending A LOT of time on this). I've thought about contacting storage areas in the area and seeing if they're okay with it... but I would need to get a unit close to electricity and most likely get in my car and leave the premise every time I need to go to the bathroom. Not to mention hauling my big desktop depending back and forth from my apartment (where I'd do most of the mixing) and the unit (where I'd do the recording) (I know, get a laptop
).
Any ideas or suggestions?
