At least Nirvana was good for something.
Skid Row
Love/Hate
Ugly Kid Joe
Trixter
Saigon Kick
...and the list goes on and on. It was a pretty full bus.
There's just an odd awkwardness to a lot of those hard rock bands that hit the big time after the rise of Guns n' Roses (1987) but before the rise of Nirvana (1991). They knew neon spandex and huge foofy hair were over, but they weren't quite sure where to go with the sound. Honestly I feel Mother Love Bone would have been right in this boat had Andrew Wood not died, and then a couple of the most important rock bands of the past three decades might never have existed.

I think about that a lot, actually (excellent post BTW). I wonder how the scene would've been different had Nirvana not broke so big.
I heard Bruce Fairweather say MLB's next record would've been something along the lines of Vs...with a few of Andy's piano songs thrown in.
And yeah if Nirvana wouldn't have made it, I think the future of glam could've ended up in the hands of bands like Warrior Soul, Bang Tango, D.A.D. and MLB, and eventually it all would have turned into AIC anyway.![]()

Dude, look up the band Wildside. They were the next fucking guns n roses. They signed a 5 album deal with capitol in 1989, but got dropped after their first album in '93. Killer fucking album tho, one of my favorites.
