Read it over breakfast. Very interesting.
Gave me even less reason to pay attention to metal.

WRONG
Metal has gotten a bit ridiculous. And by ridiculous, I meant let's work more on being catchy instead of being ultra brutal. That being said, Gene Hoglan is a god amongst drummers.

I enjoy a fairly broad spectrum of metal, but I find myself gravitating towards the classics. Probably due t my old age

From the YT quotes: "I'd expect a 6'8", 350 pound man to have a deeper voice..."

That was a good read. Blazing fast blast beats and double-bass are awesome, but after a bit, I do like a little variety. And the sheer overproduction of so many metal albums right now...I dunno, so much of it blends together.
1203 bpm though....how in the actual fuck? Is that the "gravity roll" or whatever?

it's called a gravity blast. and i think those fastest drum competitions are with single strokes too.

That's it. I remember watching some guys do that. Impressive as hell, and a great tool for a drummer's arsenal, but boring just to watch it happen for too long.

I'm 6'2" and the two times I've met him he TOWERS over me. And he's so damn laid back it's funny as hell to talk to him knowing what he can and does do to a drum kit. One of the nicest dudes ever.
