Godzilla 9/10

Gotta buck the trend here but I loved it. It made me feel like a 10 year old watching black and white monster movies on Sunday afternoon. So much better than Pacific Rim. I felt like OR missed a golden opportunity ever 5 minutes but Godzilla hit all the notes at exactly the right moment.

Of course, I saw it on a Tuesday afternoon while drinking scotch ale rather than a midnight showing at the local multiplex. Probably helped my expectations.

Literally watched Pacific Rim the day after I watched Godzilla. I thought it was a much better movie overall although Godzilla did a few things better.

Godzilla-8.5
Pacific Rim-10

My girlfriend made me watch this movie Limitless. Very cool movie and worth a watch. 9/10.

John Dies at the End: 8.5/10

Do you like Evil Dead 1&2 and Army of Darkness? How about the Phantasm series? Tucker and Dale vs. Evil? Cabin in the Woods? If so, give this one a shot. Very nice horror comedy.

Been meaning to watch that. Keep forgetting.

Blue is the Warmest Color - 10/10

It's long as hell and not fast paced at all. Took me two sessions to watch it because of time issues. Some of the best acting i have ever seen. Adele Exarchopoulos rules in every way in this movie. Worth it if you have 3 hours to waste. Lot's of gratuitous sex scenes too.

That Awkward Moment - 6-7/10, trying to be fair here. It's clearly a female fantasy of what they believe guys do to and around each other, sorta the mirror image of the guy fantasy that girls run around in their underwear smacking each other with down pillows until they explode. The guys are SOMEWHAT believable though a little cliche. And there were some damn funny scenes. I'd have given it a higher score if they hadn't used the oldest heart-tug trick in the book to try and bring the pain in the last 1/3rd of the movie, but for a romantic comedy, it went full retard in that regard and I sorta stopped caring at that point, while it had been a pretty fun ride getting there. It's too bad. They really did have a pretty OK thing going.

I heard Godzilla was terrible and that Cranstons role was about as big as what you see in the trailers. Guess I'll just wait till it leaks.

Yeah, Cranston turns out to be a bit of a bait and switch. BUT Godzilla is the real hero and he does his job without giving even a single fuck.

The only way NOT to love the movie is to have some odd expectations about it IMNSHO.

It was pretty good but I didn't think it was THAT good. Most of it came off to me as "old man yells at pro tools".

ive heard its the best super hero movie done yet. which pleases me, as an x-men fan from the way-day, largely unimpressed with the ones so far and not really interested in other fruity nonsense like...well, anything by xmen or spiderman, and we all know how those turned out. maybe i can scope it this week

Both analog and digital have their place. The purist attitude is silly to me considering that back when people were recording to tape only they were begging for something easier and more efficient to come along. Besides you can use pro tools like an old tape machine if you want (just press record and capture a live band). Just because something was done on pro tools doesn't always mean it was edited to hell and back. Dave just came off as a bitter old man.

I wouldn't say it's the BEST super hero movie but it's well done.... granted they changed things from the original comic book story arc but that's expected....

the old pro tools was way different then the current one and when they first went to CD's they sounded like ass the youngsters may not remember back then .I didn't really see him complain too much he said what you did , it has it's place and some artist really embraced it and mastered it . There were a few snobby remarks from some of the musicians there though .

21 Grams. A little disjointed at first as there are two different story lines and they jump back and forth constantly, but as would be expected in a movie like this the further you get in the more the different stories converge.

It's about a guy who needs a heart transplant and the bizarre and brutal happenings that lead up to the transplant and then it really gets crazy. If you have a wife/gf that can sit thru this with you and enjoy it, you definitely got a keeper.

The only thing that irritated me was the repeated line "call me on my cell". The movie came out around 2002 when it was still common to wear a cell phone like a badge.

8/10

X-men: DOFP 7/10. Not a bad job by Marvel/Fox, way better than I expected and very enjoyable, but I did kind of find the ending a bit confusing.

So Wolverine resets the future but does he still have bone claws in the future or the adamantium skeleton? In the end we Striker take Wolverine away, but really it's Mystique. Does Mystique fuck Wolverine over at some point and hand him to Striker, or does she rescue him and alter the timeline in which he wouldn't have been experimented on? This is something not answered in the ending, which version of Wolverine in the future is it? The less awesome and ultimately ineffective bone claw Wolverine, or the indestructible weapon Wolverine?

I think they did that on purpose... make you want to see the next one to get the answers....

Godzilla- 7/10 I rank this as a silly fun giant monster action movie. It was pretty much what I wanted out of a Godzilla movie, basically, not sucking, Godzilla tearing shit up and well, that's pretty much all I ask. If I ranked it "objectively" it would be much lower because if you think about many aspects of the plot, they make no sense, but the joy of this movie is you pretty much don't care and just go with it.

I didn't like it as much as Pacific Rim, but I found it highly enjoyable and a fun way to waste a couple hours.
