Better Living Through Chemistry 7.5/10
Sam Rockwell plays an uptight pharmacist whose life is in shambles. He hooks up with a pill popping nympho and things make a change for the better, in all directions. Sam Rockwell is one of those under the radar actors who never fails to crack me up. Quirky yet relatable as he just seems like a regular person you would meet on the street. Quiet little movie that had me cracking up.
Amazing Spiderman 2....
6.5/10? Made the mistake of reading user reviews on IMDB to get a feel and saw spoilers that really should have been warned of or white text'd

Lesson learned.
Too many villains. I didn't care for what they did with Paul Giammatti's character. Some emotional moments that felt forced and some that were well done. I think if they keep at it; they will have a really good Spiderman film out of this (unnecessary) reboot series. As long as they don't run out of worthwhile villains before they can get to that point
Finally saw a trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy and have to say I am intrigued. Looks very promising. I am not a comic book fanboi in the least; so ymmv on the above. I like the characters that comic books create (and the movies that are eventually populated by these characters); but I can't stand reading comics. I would rather either read a book or watch a film.

i saw a spiderman trailer when old dude was on fallon....every scene with spidey in it was CGI. which is of course understandable, but it was BAAAAAd.. like cartoony bad. like i swore i saw gumby-style limbs not keeping straight, etc.
i could rant on that shit for days.

I see your point. Clearly, in a lot of cases.
I have given up critiquing CGI at this point. Once 300 came out, followed by the whole crop of "97% of this movie was made using green screen" stuff hit theaters; I just resigned myself to trying to enjoy the story being presented and ignore the obvious. I am hyper critical of movies to a point but I would rather just enjoy myself and not armchair quarterback a 2 hour film everytime I watch something. There is definitely a difference between bad cgi (Sharknado

) and good stuff; but f**k it. I just want to be entertained

Exporting Raymond: 8/10
Documentary about the process of re-making Everybody Loves Raymond for a Russian audience. It's crazy that they bought the rights to the show, then put together a team of people that had no idea what it was about and basically wanted to change every single aspect of it. A head writer that wasn't married, so thought the marriage stuff was bullshit. A head of costume that thought it was too dull and needed to be trendier and people needed to dress up more. An entire writing staff that essentially thought the show was complete shit and shouldn't even exist. A network/show head that wants to say no to anything the creative team gets too enthusiastic about. And an ex military dude as the driver/security guy that, while seeming pretty cool, also seemed a bit out on the edge at times.
And somehow they still pulled it off.
Very enjoyable to watch even though you spend a big portion of the movie wanting to strangle the entire Russian team for being a bunch of ass-monkies.

BrendanO and I watched the Robocop remake the other day. It was terrible. But the dude playing Murphy was actually pretty good. And he had the right face and tone of voice for it but the writing and storyline were just awful. We were both disappointed. Also, for being a throwback to 80's action flicks it was not nearly violent/gory enough.

I think my favorite bit was the difference between the Russian parents and the American parents when they were trying to Skype. Honestly, that whole scene. "You want whiskey, tequila, vodka?" "Water." "Vodka then."

Caller 6.5/10
The acting was decent and the idea was interesting; however, it was just executed poorly. I watched it expecting horror as that was how it was promoted by Netflix, but it was certainly more of a suspense type of move. Not bad, but a letdown if you are hoping to see something scary. I could recommend it as a somewhat entertaining/filler suspense movie, but it was kind of average.

Grudge Match- 5.5/10? It had some funny moments, but way way way too much "angsty old guy sad life didn't turn out how he expected." The first 20 minutes and the last 20 minutes were really fun. The whole middle part drug pretty badly. Now, if I were 50+ or something, it might resonate more, idk.

hahaha... I was more talking about keeping it a little more true to the comic books and also showing that the Sinister 6 is coming up.... Kirsten D wasn't bad and I don't hold Toby M responsible really... the writing and directing just went off the deep end, kinda like the old Batman franchise did after Tim Burton stopped directing them... the first Spiderman will always be one of my favorite comic book movies..

You honestly described 80% of the movies coming out over the past few years.

i mean i love watching dudes do blow out of hookers buttholes, and fucking they were all excellent in it, jonah hill seriously was killer, and i love scorcese, but it just seems like wasted talent in WoWS. "dude got rich with some bs stock moves....rich rich rich....eventually it bit him in the ass......." boiler room, but in 4 hours (or it seemed like it, anyway. took two nights to watch).

Olympus Has Fallen: 3/10 This movie is beyond awful. I mean, it falls quickly into the realm of funbad. I'll review it from that aspect in a second. The plot makes no fucking sense. Not the slightest. And just when you think it couldn't get more absurd, it does. No, really, if you're watching and thinking "Omg, it can't get worse!" trust me, it does.
The CGI is pretty bad. Its heavily abused in the first 40 minutes of the movie and its pretty much SyFy channel bad. Maybe a step above, but pretty awful.
Acting...well, no one really has to act. Gerard Butler punches people and talks like Christian Bale as batman. Morgan Freeman was brought in to add another big name to the cast.
The movie is a trainwreck.
Funbad score: 8/10 This movie is so awful its fun. If you feel like playing "guess the plot" or "point out gaping plotholes" or "I'll bet you it can't get more silly" then this movie is for you. Nothing, I mean, NOTHING that happens makes the slightest sense, not even in action movie land. It really is so bad its fun. If you watch this movie in a serious manner you'll be angry. Give in to the terrible. Let it flow through you.
