They are growing fast and played a great game against Iran today, this could have easily been a higher score, they created so many goal opportunities. Their inexperience still shows and sometimes they were too eager to finish where they could have worked the play a bit more. But they're making solid progress nonetheless.
They advanced 2 cups ago and faced Belgium. They did not win.

nah... they've advanced before... only reason I remember that was because the Women's team pointed out that they money the men got for advancing was was more than what the women got for winning lol.... Tell you what, under the new pay agreement the Women's team must be happy AF since they will be getting a cut of the Men's team earnings lol
All that being said... I'm glad America and some of the African nations are advancing just for the expansion of the sport world wide...

USA also advanced in 94 when you hosted it, losing to eventual winners Brazil. I really enjoyed that tournament, I think it had a very positive effect on football in the USA, you're definitely getting better as a national side. My club, Coventry, bought cobi Jones after that, I think Roy wegerley was still with us at that point.

I'm more interested in the afternoon games..... I really want Germany to progress and the only way that can happen is if Spain beats Japan and Germany beats Costa Rica... I can see Spain beating Japan but I'm not so sure about Germany beating Costa Rica.... it's not impossible but it won't be easy

At this point I am pretty optimistic - the tied game against Spain gave the boys quite some confidence. As long as Billy is not betting against Germany we will have a chance to succeed.

Spain was safe win or lose... but now that they've lost they have the goal difference over Germany, so even though Germany won their game they don't continue.... sucks.... Germany now looked like their team was back in form....

When costa rica scored their 2nd goal, at that point spain were going out, they were only saved by Germany scoring. Very exciting finale to the group.

It definitely looks out from that angle, but I've seen another pic from a different angle and it's definitely in.

Yeah the whole ball has to be out, it's hard to see from this angle but when you look from above you can see part of the ball was still in. The Japanese deserved to advance, talk about a team that fought hard for it.
Brazil is playing with a "B" team today, as I expected they would. Slightly different formation too. But I like them so far.

I'm half watching both games, seems to be more significant stuff (atm) going on in the Swiss/Serbia game

I'm retracting this statement

That was a crazy game. Brazil had 12 shots at goal and couldn't score. Cameroon had 2 shots and scored a goal.
That was kind of a throwaway game for Brazil but still wtf

Caneroon, wow! Great goal, then the twat gets himself sent off for the celebration.
Serbia shithousery deserving of their exit imo, swiss were the better team.
All set for the last 16!
