It must be one of those things where you have o be a fan to hear "it". To me, any of his phanbois sound like him, when playing that style ,that Ive ever heard.

It's just that when SRV broke out it was right SMACK in the middle of a poser-pop era of music that was a mega overdose of schlock and glitter. Nobody played the blues. Suddenly there was this roadhouse player who wrestled his guitar like we'd never seen - that fuckin' VIBRATO man, I remember a friend of mine trying to describe "this weird blues guy" and he couldn't stop doing air-vibrato and making guitar faces. :lol:

He's been overplayed to death. He's been over copied to death. But all his 'stolen' licks were officially approved by Albert King, and he kicked off a major revitalization of interest in guitar.

I still love :heart: the opener from the El Mocambo show, "Testify." That is a jawdropper demonstration, instant geetar credibility.
