Just saw this performed live, on April 22, with full orchestra including 8 double basses...

^Nice!

Here's a much more contemporary piece than I usually post. Don't mistake this with "smooth jazz". It's legit contemporary jazz. Listen to Lee's chord melodies. That's some jazz guitar right there fellas.

Music from the Frank Sinatra movie, "The Man With The Golden Arm"... Frank was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance as a junkie.

here's a nod to Blackwolf :thu:. Also, if you remember the funny accordion thread a while back, where we all made fun of Mexicans playing the accordion, fucking listen to track 2 off this video. In fact, listen to it first. HOLY FUCK!! That is the most rippin'-awesomest accordion playing I've ever, fucking, heard.

I'm trying to learn some Gypsy Jazz now, just because of this. :)

So the jazz station the past few days has been bland, or maybe I'm just getting too used to it and many songs are starting to sound the same to me. :idk:

Anyway, this really old classic big band/swing piece came on this morning and while we've all heard it, at least the intro/motif, I have to admit I've never REALLY heard it, not with the discerning listening of a musician. HOLY FUCK! There's 5 metric tons of hard rock up in this bitch. If I was half the musician I claim to be I'd sit down and learn these horn parts on the electric guitty.:love::love:

My ass must have Arab roots, or ancient Greco-Roman... or something. Cause I love music that uses Phrygian and Phrygian dominant melodies. This Stan Kenton jam is uber dope.

Been a while. My wife bought me this CD the other day and I dig it. Thought I'd post a tune from it. I think it's a pretty cool tune. Not too far out there in terms of melodic tastes except for the tres (it's a stringed instrument) that busts a couple blues licks which I find interesting on a Latin Salsa progression.
