THE LOBSTER 6/10
The first 2/3 was really good, b/c figuring out what the hell is going on, and getting clued in by the movie bit by bit, made the movie very interesting.
I found the last 1/3 and conclusion disappointing
After Tuesday, even the calendar goes WTF!

Metalocalypse: Doomstar Requiem: WTF did they say / 10
Great music, as expected, but this is suffering HARD from the WB mix routine, where literally everything but the main vocals and dialog is mixed loud as fuck, and the main vocals and dialog are mixed so quiet I literally have zero fucking clue what anybody said at any point other than when there were zero other sound effects going on. Since the only time that happened in the show was the first episode while Brendan was getting his feet wet, I suspect the controlling interest took Brendan's mix and clusterfucked it to "modernize" it like they do all the TV bullshit they make.

Lots of brought back characters, lots of death, lots of great music. Someday I'll have to rewatch it with the captions turned on so I can have some fucking clue WTF is happening.

Killers of the flower moon: 3.5 hours is a long time to be bored/10. Like an hour+ could very easily be cut from this.

Everything, Everywhere, All at Once - 12/10

Just the right blend of meta-weirdness and cross-dimension shenanigans, along with action, drama, comedy, you name it. When people say current Hollywood needs a shake-up, this movie is exactly the opposite of the cookie cutter, make sure it matches what sold last year, safe bet. Great film, if a bit off the rails from time to time. Depending on your viewpoint, that could be good or bad.

I'm an old, addle-minded, simple fuck too, and I liked it. At its heart it's really about learning to accept all the aspects of who you are, but it does it by breaking people into their individual sides, and having those sides living in different "dimensions." Then add a little glaze of super-secret-we-know-the-truth spy-games shit, and hot dog fingers, and away ya go.

Not to mention Michelle Yeoh is great in pretty much everything. I really liked it too.

She really is something else. Can't ever remember seeing her in anything I didn't enjoy on some level.

Speaking of which, the meta-reality of her as a star going to the premiere of what was happening in the movie was one of my favorite fourth-wall moments ever put to film. What a great concept.

:thu:

But fair warning to the old, addle-minded, simple fucks, if you had the hots for Jamie Lee Curtis when she was hot, in this movie she looks worse than the north end of a southbound dog.

I'm one of the lucky ones. Never could get why everybody said she was so smokin' hot. She went from rail-thin unattractive to bloated corpse unattractive, without any steps in-between. Granted, her acting in this is off-the-chain spectacular, especially considering all the different versions of herself she's playing.

Yes. I know I'm of the generation that's supposed to think she's gorgeous because of "that scene." Didn't do much for me. I'm sure that'll get me tagged gay, but it wouldn't be the first time.

Nah. To each their own. I wouldn’t say she’s gorgeous in that scene either, just sexy as shit. Which is why is so fucking funny when she falls down.

"The Dead Don't Die" with Bill Murray and Adam Driver
Rated: ZERO out of Suck My Butt
Tilda Swinton was the only remotely interesting thing about this movie.... SPOILER: even the death of Selena Gomez was boring!
