Yep! I normally get bored by modern horror, but this held my attention.

Finally saw the Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

Nick Fuckiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin' Ah WOOO! Cage / 10

What's especially funny to me is the way they played with the meta of it all. Like, sure, there were some lame surface level jokes, as expected, but the subtlety of talking about what they put in the script, as it's actually happening, was somehow a lot funnier to me.

Oppenheimer 8/10 did not disappoint.

The Marvels 8/10 surprisingly good.

Thanksgiving 7/10 better than the last Halloween movie

Barbie
A shockingly deep movie that somehow managed to not take itself seriously, while still treating the subject matter with a modicum of respect. I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would. The only disappointment? They should have used other Mattel properties, or former properties, in the travel sequences just to give us former boys in the audience some extra hooks. Granted, it's still pretty entertaining. Ken War is perhaps the greatest war scene in all of cinematography.

Nobody (3rd time)
This has become one of our, "I feel like violence" go-tos. I love the build up to the bus scene, and then the action just never really slows down, other than to nail down a plot point. "But you came after my family, which you know YOU DO! NOT! DO!" Freakin' love this movie. Odenkirk and Lloyd both just destroy every scene they're in.

John Wick 4
I've dug the Wick films for the most part, but this one felt phoned in. From Reeves' shit acting, possibly the worst acting he's ever done, and believe me I know that's saying something, to the fact that they never really develop a plot around the violence, it's fun to watch for the action, but there's no real meat on them bones. I hope, when we inevitably get to 5 when SURPRISE SURPRISE HE NO DEAD? that they bother to develop a script before filming. This one literally felt like, "Here's the budget. See how much carnage you can create in 2 hours forty." It works as a late night fuck-em-up, but won't stand on its own as a compelling film.

Yeah I thought Renfield was a good watch, probably wouldn't rewatch it but it was entertaining.

I watched Leo after Thanksgiving with the kids, the Adam Sandler animated one. I thought it was a 7.5, but I also think I was more amused by it than my kids. The songs were funny and it was a good family movie.

Thanks, gents, re: renfield....I'll prob give it a shot.

BARBIE 3/10 It gets 3 only b/c of Margot Robbie's beauty. I am so fucking sick and tired of woke Hollywood dumping on men...

THE FLASH 8/10 Much better than I expected, especially given the Critical Drinker's review (I've come to the conclusion he basically dumps on everything).

I must have missed the dumping on men bit of Barbie. It struck me as one of the more self-aware battle of the sexes movies of all time, and was still hysterical. And if you don't enjoy the Ken War? You're missing some critical component in your humor centers.

And I will say, The Critical Drinker is awesome. I got started on him during the latter seasons of Game of Thrones. Holy hell, I got so, so, SO much more entertainment out of him than I did the episodes themselves back then. Hysterically funny deconstructions of every episode, and his take on Jon Snow always sent me over the edge.

"Jon, should we be concerned with " lists out twenty-five catastrophic failures around them.
And Jon's all, "Nah, it'll be fine."

 every time.

Thanks for the recommendations, it was a very good laugh!

John Wick 1 - again, of course. Not the first time we’ve seen it. 8/10. Great flick for what it is. We just have a Dolby Atmos sound system now with an OLED television, and wanted something to watch that made a lot of noise.

Leave the World Behind The first 4/5 were eerie and tense, kind of a no resolution ending though. 7/10. Would have been scored higher if there was a clever twist.

John Wick 2 and 3 - Gun Fu/10.

Cool movies for what they are. Made a ton better in 4K on an OLED with a Dolby Atmos system since those movies are all about spectacle
