“McFarland, USA” - Kevin Costner is a cross-country running coach in a largely agricultural Central Valley, California town.
7.5/10 - cute movie
“The King’s Speech” - Colin Ferth is the Duke of York who becomes King George VI at the beginning of WW2. Geoffrey Rush is awesome!
10/10
“Free Guy” - Starring Ryan Reynolds in a Fortnite crosses Matrix movie.
6/10

No Exit. Straight to Hulu (afaik) thriller. Pretty darn good. Not perfect but MUCH better compared to their normal direct to platform stuff. Reminded me of Run that was on there last year or so. Not in plot but just in general quality of script and overall production.

I think that's a little harsh. Free Guy has some laughs and pretty good special fx, plus a relatively original storyline. I'd say 7/10 or 8/10 depending on who you watch it with. It's not a masterpiece, but it's a solid popcorn flick.

Good acting. Decent pacing. And I was even OK with most of the plot right up until they pulled the Blumhouse equivalent *SHOCK* twist. Fuck that noise. Pretty much ruined the whole thing for me by doing that.
I will say, I did enjoy the cocaine fueled power-up moment. Go Popeye!

I thought she was chasing the dragon

Though not falling asleep should have been my first clue. I think the trashy lady that was in it is only good when she plays a retired biker's old lady. And insurance dude and her were not a realistic match

I figured the super hype had to be coke.
That gal was pretty good in Vice Principals and Justified too. I think she was fine until the turn here. Nobody could pull off that switcheroo and not look like a cardboard cutout.

Going to see the new Batman flick with one son this evening. Seen generally positive things about it so far without any spoiler action. We'll see.

I generally do not like Superhero movies, but this one has me intrigued. I love Pattinson and Paul Dano. Looks gritty and dark. Have tix for tomorrow afternoon

Me too. But I still end up watching about 80% of the d@mn things

Pattinson (despite the obvious) and Dano are usually great in everything they're in. I've read some hype here and there that there are tinges of almost horror to things. We'll see on that but either way I'm looking forward to it.

The Batman. Paul Dano and Colin Farrell=bad ass. Pattinson and Turturro were great too. Overall; good flick. You knew it was long but it didn't necessarily feel like it. Detective vibe worked great. It's tough to follow the Nolan stuff but Reeves did great. Did mention Paul Dano was creepy as f? Farrell was unrecognizable but made for a great addition as well. One minor quibble (that does make sense) that I won't mention right now. Great flick nonetheless.

The Batman - 8/10..... overall this was a great Batman movie, hell a great movie period... my only complaint is I found it dragged in some parts and if you're gonna have your movie be that long it can't drag... I think they could probably edit 20 minutes out of it easily....... that being said. the look, the sound and the vibe of the movie was excellent... the music was so good at creating tension, the noir look was really well done, if it was black and white you'd swear you were watching a classic noir detective movie and I really appreciated what I hope was an intentional effort to make Batman look like a regular dude in a costume helping people.... not every shot of him showed him in a larger than life perspective which was an interesting take on the character. And I'm with JT on this, the cast was fantastic.... I loved that you couldn't even recognize Colin Farrell as the Penguin and Paul Dano was creepy AF

Original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of my all time favorite horror movies. Part 2 got into comedy but still has some redeeming bits. Plus Denis Hopper and Leatherface in a chainsaw duel is amazing.

F yes to all of this. Batman as mere mortal vibe was excellent. You could have removed the cowl and told me it was Seven Pt 2 and I would have believed you. And thought it was great.
Spoiler time
the design of teh Batmobile was perfect as well. Both it's entrance and the way it looked like some roided up muscle car that. Excellent design choice. One minor quibble I had was having to bring in the joker AGAIN. For gods sakes; it's like having the GD green goblin in every spiderman movie. Riddler was carrying the film. Let him have his moment FFS! I get that we have to make everything a "universe" but if the strength of Dano's performance wasn't what it was; it would absolutely feel like a last minute copout.

totally agree with what you have in the spoiler section....... that end scene was totally unnecessary IMO and took away from the movie a bit

Fresh - LOLFUKINWAT?/10
A send-up of modern dating that deep-dives into the realm of cannibalism. It's pretty sick at parts, but somehow super irreverent at the same time. Like, the dude doing the cutting for others to eat has a LOT going against him, and one of the funniest lines of the movie is from some folks who manage to escape him.
"YOU MEAN HE'S MARRIED?!" - like that's the worst thing to find out about your cannibal abducter.
Not a bad movie, and goofy as shit it some places. Still wouldn't sit well with some folks due to the subject.
Rewatched Free Guy. God damn if that movie isn't fun. Probably the most fun take on AI I've ever seen.

I laughed for 20 straight minutes just howling when that guy teabagged other dude...I've done that so many times in COD and never seen it done in real life. Was a good movie but that scene sent it over the top for me.

That one had me laughing. The other was the motorcycle slide.
"Did that look cool? 'Cause it felt like it looked cool."
Or the dumbass grin he had when he was watching her kick ass. Ryan Reynolds is the perfect combo of "don't care what I look like" and "anything for a laugh" along with action abilities.

I loved that movie!
But I don't remember a teabagging scene at all....
can you give me the minute mark?
thanks!
