I still use the old 2 blade Sensor. Works like a champ on my chiseled cheekbones.

I only go to B&B to play Picture Tag.... you can't fucking curse over there.
A few weeks ago, I bought a Darwin clone, made by Asylum, at Bullgoose Shave.
Darwins were made in the 1930's and sell for $1800+ on eBay. Always been fascinated by them. The clone is really nice...

ANY CASE.. it's a great way outa the plastic non-fantastics for you dudes still buying gillette poop.

Thanks for the head'sup! I may have to try that.
FWIW, I stopped using Merkurs a little while ago when I got into milled razors and single edge razors.
I've been using an Occam's Razor.

damn. that thing's nifty lookin! i had a single edge for years, but i think i finally gave up the idea that i was ever gonna use it-- it was an antique tortie that desperately needed stropping and i never got to it, so it eventually disappeared. but i'm fine with safeties i think given i end up shaving at 4am most days pre-coffee and i need my ears and nose.. not to mention an intact windpipe and jugular.
are you finding that thing BETTER somehow than a traditional safety? not that i change razors all THAT often (i'd been using israeli personnas for like 6 years and recently switched back to feathers) but it's nice to have choices.. are there a lot of 'em with that kinda blade? and is it a better shave?
damn gene-- i still have a big ass box of blades you sent me! loads of awesomeness in there-- but the real prize is still that cool gilette adjustable! i usually chuck that duder in my tour kit when i travel! like FIVE years later-- i still have all that stuff awaiting the collapse of the first world economy we may not have food or water, but i'll be well groomed.

Re: Gillette
If you have to stick to multi blade razors, go to http://www.dollarshaveclub.com. Cheaper and better quality than Gillette. I use the 4X when I shave and they work great. They're also only $6 for a 4-pack of cartridges.

By "single edge", I don't mean straight edge. It's still a safety razor. It just takes a different razor blade format. The one in the pic is the "artist club" shavette format. Similar to the schick injector. That said, they are sharper, stiffer blades, so it's definitely a step toward the more aggressive in most cases.
I'm getting closer, more consistent shaves with the Artist Club style single edges. I REALLY like the Razorock Hawk, but they have been out of stock for months.

Just ordered the Future clone at Amazon - at that price, why not? Thanks Newholland!!!
Oooh yeah! That Occam's razor looks cool, Gene!!! Going to have to wait until the next billing cycle, on my credit card, to order one... I spent way too much this month!
Here's the demo vid:

FWIW, I've never used that tool to handle the blade. It's unnecessary.
Also, you might want to keep an eye out on the pricing at classic shaving. They run coupons pretty regularly. I got mine for $68 after cyber monday when, by chance, the code still worked.
EDIT: I sort of wish I had gotten the trimmed down V2 OREN or whatever. I also wish I had gotten a rose gold V1.

Pretty sure the Future clone is a Chinese knock-off but, I'll let you know what it's all about, after I've dulled a few Astra Platinums with it.

FWIW, Gillette double edge razor blades are really good. Check out the Russian black 7 O'Clock .
This is the correct answer. Been using the double edge razors for about 6 years or so and coudn't imagine going back.

If you go up a little, I’m rocking artist club and injector single edge razors about half of the time. They are similar but different. Fun and sharp.

Either you guys invest too much thought, money and effort into shaving, or I'm just a cheap-ass caveman . I shave every day in the shower, using bar soap, with a Gillette Mach 3. I shave my face, neck, chest and stomach and as much of my shoulders and back as I can reach. I have a goatee and just use one hand to find the border and let it rip (no mirror). I, quite literally, use the same blade for months without issue. I put a new blade on the second week of October (I only know that because I wanted a new blade for a vacation trip...) and just changed it. I can't even imagine taking the time to worry about special razor handles, blades, soaps, creams or any of that other stuff. To each their own, but I can't invest that kind of time...

haha.. aw man, when i think about my beard killing a 12$ pack of razor heads in 2 months, not to mention the idea of chucking all that plastic... THAT bugs me. i buy 100 feathers for 15 bucks, and out of that i get TWO HUNDRED SHAVES. good shaves. on a razor frame i'll likely die using and have been for about 8 years now. plus.. i have the same brush i got 8 years ago, and all i invest in is soap?
PLUS.. the ritual of making lather, using a really good brush, and knowing it's the 5 minutes i actually enjoy in the morning ablutions maybe twice a week? 'course, i'm shaving MY FACE. all that other shavery is not my calling.
i dunno. i NEVER think about shaving other than that i enjoy it with good tools. it's silly in some ways, but it's also something like picking an instrument you like-- it's just the thing you use to do the job!

Re: Gillette
I used to be the same way (grab and go shaving) and on occasion, I still use my Gillette Sensor when I'm in a hurry.
But for me, Sensor blades don't seem to last more than 8 or 9 shaves; my beard is like piano wire.
Back in the early 2000's Sensor blades were about $5.00 each (until recent competition from the Dollar Shave Club forced Gillette to drop their prices).
When I was 27 (and short on cash) I found out that Double Edge blades were 5 cents each so, I gave them a try.
I'm the kind of person who needs to keep themselves busy or I'll wind up doing crimes (or other stupid things) to fend off boredom.
Old school vintage shaving is just another way to keep my mind occupied, stay out of trouble and initially, save money.
Double Edge, Single Edge and Straight Razor shaving can be fascinating for some people.
Other people try it and wind up butchering themselves after their first attempt so, they give up.
It's terrifying using a DE razor for the first time - they really are dangerous until you get them figured out.
Straight razor shaving requires an incredible amount of concentration and the blade maintenance is a lot of work so, I only do it a few times a year.
Double and single edge shaving can save you a lot of money... as long as you don't get sucked into collecting.

Waiting for Steinmetzify to post here.........
Until then, I gave up shaving years ago!
I had to shave twice a day, Mon-Fri and by Fri my facial skin looked like Freddy Kruger's.
Electric razors couldn't do the job.
I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy that I quit shaving and have a beard!!
