Much Ado About Nothing- 9/10 Joss and the gang did a great job with this. Alexis Denisoff was a great Benedict. Amy Aker was awesome as Beatrice. Fran Kranz was a great Claudio. It was well shot, well acted and just fun all the way around.

Nathan Fillion as Dogberry, epic.

I gotta watch the Kenneth Branagh version again to see how they compare.

the conjuring: 4/10. dont know what anyone who gave it a good rating was thinking. the woman's makeup during the exorcism was good, she looked as confused and sad as she did demonic, which was artfully done, but everything else was total bullshit.

v/h/s: 7.5/10 good stuff. way shaky which i hate when people complain about but this shit was way over the line, but the concept was cool and some of the vignettes were nice. some decent twists in them. well worth the watch, and i will watch part 2 asap.

Just saw EVIL DEAD re-make on DVD.
I liked it....but the original was better to me. Maybe I am just de-sensitized thru all the horror flicks I watched all these past years.

Never saw the original; I have a feeling that it would be more of a comedy if I saw it now, nothing wrong with that though. I liked the new one a lot.

Sucks that Youngblood didn't like The Conjuring, I loved it.

The original Evil Dead was scary as hell....
they started getting into black humor on the 2nd one....then Army of Darkness.
It was the only movie to make me turn on the lights....(i was 14 at the time)

Still one the best out there. Check it out. :thu:

i had heard that they werent trying to break any molds, that it was a really solid haunting flick. they should have tried to break some molds. not hating, but ehres what got me.

pros:
-the acting/makeup on the possessed: fucking excellent. i was scared FOR her and her familly. so sad and confused, yet so demonic. very well done
-the ides that some of the ghosts were victims of the first one, and that it followed you. not new, but cool.
-some decent tense moments (but as usual in modern horror, often punctuated by really shit resolutions)
-some of the looks on the girls' faces were very evocative. well done.
-some ok environmental scares. "oh i thought she was going to make it out, the scene in the trailer must happen lat---boom! door in the face"
-dug the hanging feet motif
-as ghey as the actual clap from the trailer is, the setup for it was nice.
-good cast
-thep picture scare, though ruined by the trailer, was good.

cons:
-door scares? really? see third comment above. the staring into the dark behind the door was awesome, tense, creepy. then boom, door closes. come the fuck on. im not even hating, thats just lazy.
-trailer ruined all the visual stuff
-the visual stuff that the trailer ruined was like halloween funhouse level meh (you can see the black veins effect, which is ghey to begin with, is makeup on the closeups. come one dude, i paid money),
-the old woman ghost was not scary.
-kid ghost not scary
-fat ghost, not scary
-maid ghost, not scary
-the dinger for me, as always: CGI shit that does not need to be CGI. much like the CGI breaking of a car window in scyfy's sharknado masterpiece, the red liquid coming from the mouth did not need to be CGI. put some fucking red liquid in her mouth and spit it out! jesus!
-they could have done so much more surrounding the creepy ass hanging tree
-if a ghost is pulling my hair and throwing me around the room by it, and i cut it, it just stops?
-never really explained the lion the witch and the wardrobe haunt.
-the jumping of the dresser thing was pretty ghey. i got what he was trying to do, but it wasnt effective
-the officer's facewound was pretty bad

Only god forgives - Shite. Like drive but with less dialogue (yes, that is possible), no kick ass sound track, less action and shitty ending that made no sense.

ive heard lots of bad stuff about this, which was to be expected. did you get suckered into it by a gf or did you see this on your own free will? drive was awesome.

friend saw ryan gosling at homeslice pizza the other day here in austin. said there was like a procession of people starting like 10 feet behind him. so weird. chicks freak over that dude. when i told some female friends about the sighting, some of them got like legitimately upset they weren't there.

I dig the sh*t out of Drive. I think Gosling is like a Brad Pitt. The chicks dig him but if he plays his cards right, he will turn up in some stuff that kicks ass. I wanted Only God Forgives to be awesome; but I can see where the concept of drive taken to an even more minimalist place would not work. I think the other flick he has coming out (Place Beyond the Pines) looks like it should be legit.

Lawless is amazing. Strongly due to the presence of Tom Hardy, but the rest of the cast does a great job as well.

I actually did not dig Death Proof as much as I should as I am a Tarantino fanboy. It seemed like one case where there was too much dialog.

Trance 7/10
Danny Boyle crime flick with very convoluted plot. If it would have been more straightforward (even just a tiny bit); I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more. I like things to be fairly complex; but there comes a point when too many twists and turns ruin the flow of a film.

too much tarantino dialogue is definitely not a good thing. love his stuff, but its like kevin smith's stuff in the sense that when it gets wordy, i cringe.

This, I tried watching Death Proof and gave up because I wasn't invested in the story and I wanted the characters to STFU.

Tarantino gets into the "I'm so clever" trap sometimes with his dialog. Ok, quite a bit.
