I always thought he said Asterix. :D

Be prepared that the show will turn into Cringe for a while because of one really bad plot device.

Oh no......I hate that. Is it something one can just power through pretty easily though?

Yeah. I won't spoil anything for you, but it forces one of the main characters to do some really bad acting for a while. Doesn't ruin the plot though imo.

Anyone else looking forward to the David Duchovny / Manson mini-series. Looks like it could be decent - hope it turns out that way...

Forced myself to watch as much Agents of Shield as was available on Comcast on demand. Want to kill myself now. How is it possible for a show to be this boring? How is it possible for a show set in the Marvel universe to have so little to do with the Marvel universe? Is this real life?

Isn't it awful? Its just so badly written. Its 100% generic network "SF/comicbook/weird" show. It just happens to be set in the marvel universe. (Supposedly.)

I just watched the finale with my wife tonight. I think every moronic cliche was nailed in it. And compared to Agent Carter, it just looks that much worse.

I just don't get why it isn't. I mean, i get they want to save the "big" stuff for the movies. Ok. But...these are the best stories/scripts they could come up with?

It makes me sad cause I like a number of the characters, but its just not good. :(

The part that baffles me is that we know a show helmed by Joss Whefon about a team of people investigating and stopping superhuman/ otherworldly threats has all of the potential.

Seriously!

But honestly, I think Joss' name was just put on it.

He's been so busy making the Avengers movies I don't think he's had much input. At least I hope he hasn't.

I think his brother...Jed? I think Jed is one of the main show-runners, but still, you'd have thought he'd at least have seen scripts and called up some of the old Buffy/Angel/Firefly/Dollhouse writers and said "hey....you guys got a second....we could use some help over here..."

Yeah, I'm sure they just stamped his name on it. It also sucks that Coulson isn't in the movies anymore since the show started. He was always cool playing off of RDJ. Agents of Shield is so bad it actively worsens its parent IP.

When I find myself spending the afternoon watching 40 year old episodes of Kolchak: The Night Stalker that I can almost quote from verbatim rather than trying to watch another new episode of AOS, it's pretty telling. I have given up.

Besides, Kolchak was a baddass.

I do remember telling the wife when Cersi told Little Finger to bring her Sansa's head on a spike that shit's about to get real. Nobody pisses him off and just skates by.

 Cersi's current predicament. Hope it stays that way.

On another subject, I really can not imagine why anyone forces themselves to watch Agents of Shield. We made it one episode and decided between us it was a steaming pile of shit. I've seen ten minutes here or there since and it seems exactly the same. Nothing, boring, HEY WE MIGHT DO...nope, never mind.

Season 2 of AoS is better.

Instead of a hot poker in the eye, its more just like a swift kick in the nuts.

Well, ok, not swift kick. Repeated kicks in the nuts as you think it won't suck this time but it still does.

But, not a hot poker.

Just finished the first season of Spartacus and enjoyed it way more than I expected to. Not only are there epic levels of blood and boobs, there is some intrigue that would make Little Finger shrivel. And the final episode alone is worth the price of admission.

Did I mention epic boobs? Not only are there a ton of them but most are of the finest quality ever seen on TV.

Started the pilot of this last night. So far, impressed. The setting is perfect and I think it will unfold quite nicely. Thanks for the heads up! We had run out of shows to watch and Netflix has been a snoozefest as of late.

Hopefully you didn't look into it and just started watching because that was the best part... you'll see what i mean. I will say the way it ends is slightly disappointing but not that much and not near enough to deter watching the show. Once you get 2 or 3 episodes in and all the WTF moments are flying full force you won't be able to stop. Let me know what you think when you're done.

And yeah, i love the stark setting of Iceland as the backdrop... it's perfect for this show and it's shot so well.

I looked up the IMDB page and read about 2 sentences of the synopsis. I couldn't go in completely blind  That being said; those two sentences really didn't tell me anything.

The cast is great and the vibe I am getting so far is good. Without spoilers; I am trying hard to figure out what genre it is going to fit into. I am an hour into the pilot and there are a couple of very distinct vibes I am getting. Very interested to see where it goes. I dig anything set in a frozen climate and this is no different. The cold just sets the mood so effortlessly.
