shit.... I forgot that was coming out!!! well I know what I'm watching this weekend!

Its pretty damn good! It's been a long time since I read the series but I didn't notice any real changes. The voice actors are all excellent and most match what I had imagined.

Formula 1. Drive to survive.

Just binged series 3 before this years' f1 season starts. I really enjoyed this, lots of info and insights that aren't usually available on the regular coverage. Highly recommended if you are a f1 fan.

On our rewatch of Supernatural we just happened to watch the episode where the boys go back in time to get the Phoenix ash. And, as it was foretold:

The outfit Sam is wearing there is what he wears in Walker about 75% of the time too. And this was probably nine years before Walker was even being thought about. Hilarious coincidence.

Started Them on Amazon. Jeez. Good show but not a comfortable one to watch in the slightest. Creepy and wrong on every level.

On a completely different note; been rewatching Friday Night Dinner. The actor who played the dad died last week which is big shame as he was absolutely hilarious. Check it out if you haven't already. Juvenile British humor at it's finest.

He played Anatoly Dyatlov in Chernobyl too!

I forgot about that one. He was in something else dramatic we watched recently. UK cop show but can't remember the name as we pretty much every one we see  We are still plowing through Friday Night Dinner a second time and he is fantastic.

Started Exterminate All the Brutes on HBO.

Eye opening as fuck and now I hate everybody that’s ever been in power since the beginning of time.

Been binge watching the Total Drama cartoon series with my 6 year old. She loves this show and the fart dude is hilarious. Otherwise, glad it's free on YouTube.

Finished the Serpent. Probably the most entertained by a new show I've been in a while. It's about Charles Sobhraj serial killer of traveling hippies in Asia in the 70s. Definitely recommend.

Blazed through Falcon and Winter Soldier over the weekend. Good series. I think I like WandaVision better but I still enjoyed this a lot. Sets up a bit for future MCU stuff. Also without giving too much away, it seems like the MCU is getting all the characters for a West Coast Avengers lineup similar to the 80s comic. Which I’m all for.

I wrapped up Falcon and Winter Soldier as well.... something about the last episode just felt.... meh to me.... I'd say I like the stage the series set more than the series itself.... which is more or less my feelings on Wandavision...... I have zero desire to rewatch either but dig the format and look forward to seeing what the other series bring to the table

Both series ended with the same basic endgame of most the marvel movies. Big punch em up with some lasers and shit. Kind of undercut the unique qualities of the series, particularly WandaVision.

I mean it's all character development at the end of the day.... but to me at least Wandavision had cohesive story arcs for the main characters..... I found Flacon and Winter Soldier was kinda a little all over the place.....

I think that's fair, Bucky's characterization in particular seems to bounce around to serve the plot a bit.

I just meant both series have very imaginative elements but end with bog standard finales.

I found John Walker was a let down in the finale... I was hoping they were going to keep him going off the deep end and eventually have him sent to the Raft which would tie in to the Thunderbotls etc.... I thought Bucky was pretty consistent and Sam was also predictable.... didn't see the Sharon Carter twist coming thought I suspected it in Epi. 5... I thought the finale of Wandavision was to be expected and didn't really see it going any other way... I just wish it was done closer to the release of the next Doctor Strange since it ties directly to that.

In WandaVision I thought they could have done a more mind game finale. Like SW and Anges jumping into eachothers minds/memories and trying to trick them into giving up or something. CGI ladies shooting lasers in a red sky really sucked  The vision fight was rad though and more imaginative.

I totally agree about Walker. I wanted him fall fully into being a psycho.

Well Wanda tried that and failed... shooting lasers and putting a the Hexes was the next step...

So, the new season of Handmaid's Tale is definitely continuing the emotional beatdown path they've set themselves up to explore. Don't get me wrong, anything but that wouldn't be the same story, but on some level I think I'm reaching my limits on continuous emotional beatdowns in entertainment.

We just started Mare of Eastown and that's pretty brutal too. My wife seems to love it, but I think maybe I miss some element of levity in my entertainment. Our comedies keep disappearing faster than we can find tolerable new ones, while these "fuck you and smash your heart" level shows just keep cropping up. I wouldn't mind a little balance being put back into place.

The world's dark enough. Maybe we could focus on something other than the darkness of humanity's spirit with our entertainment?
