Man; Dave had to have the weirdest first and last episode of the season of any comedy I've watched in ages

The table in 1 and then the prison vid in the last episode

I saw them on Hulu and was very tempted. I want to get a few more out in the wild before I start up. How is Chris Rock?

Lovecraft Country: This shit be fucked up, yo. More Tulsa riot references. But Aunt Hippolyta's trip through time/space was some next level mind-fuckery shit. I'd have to guess in the book she does more than two trips before she heads back to see her husband, but TV is TV and they like to shorten up detailed off-the-wall shit from books.
I liked this week's better than the last couple, but my wife was basically going, "this sucks. Go back to the real story," the whole time.

The Third Day: This shit be fucked up, yo. What's with HBO turning every show they have into a mind-fuck? I suppose technically this one's on Sky Network, but still. I still have no fucking clue what's actually happening. And while I used to enjoy brain teasers, this one feels like it's just so fucking out there that there's no meat to grab onto. I'm starting to get tired of shows that spend six episodes leaving you feeling completely lost, then one of two where they tie it all together and it's supposed to be profound or whatever. If it's excellent, great, but more often than not it turns out to just be some standard issue bullshit that some douche-canoe with a writing degree thought he'd be capable of turning into a Tarantino level multi-time-jump mess and not putting his foot in it. Then putting their foot in it.
I hope I'm wrong here, as the acting so far has been killer, and the scenes beautifully shot. But plot and character matters, and they're already breaking the main character apart, and leaving very little other characterization to speak of outside of him. I guess we'll see.

It didn't really get my attention at first but seeing how everyone is reacting and commenting on it, this seems like it's worth the watch BUT in binge form lol

I've sort of learned my lesson in this regard. I've started a few shows as of late and if it isn't all there at once;

Lovecraft Country might be one the wife and I will binge rewatch after it's all up. There's just so much in it to digest. I mean, some folks will probably get triggered by the racial stuff, but they've at least delved right in and straight up shown it happening in this show rather than tip-toeing around it and acting like it's no big thing. Outside of that, the blend of sci-fi, fantasy and horror in this show is truly something special. It's not often that a show can take all those elements and actually pull of a compelling plot with real feeling characters. There's some scumbags and some people you're rooting for, but nobody's a golden child. Nobody's a true hero. Just real and relatable.

Been watching Wire in the Blood. UK show from earrrrrly 2000's about a psychologist who works with the local police to profile serial killers. It's definitely dated but a good watch. Lead actor is pretty much a dead ringer for Bob Odenkirk; oddly enough, as well. Good show.

I see the latest season of Schitt's Creek is up for veiwing finally. Gonna have to power through that at some point.
The Third Day's weirdness continues. Jude Law is knocking it outta the park with his performances. Really, all the acting is good, though the main inn-keeper dude silly as fuck and his bitch wife just gets dumber and more caricature like with her insults. "Shut the fuck up, fucko!" "Shut yer fuckhole, fuck head." It's just about to the point where she can say entire sentences without using anything but cuss words.
Been watching The Vow as well. Scientology got nothing on this freak show. What really sucks about the situation is that this dude actually had a useful and helpful methodology to help people improve themselves, then somewhere along the way let it go to his head and suddenly you've got slaves and masters and women gettin' tattoos of the fucker's initials on their vaginas. Keith Reniere is one creepy fucker. There's some real footage of him just staring creepily at the ladies in his group and it's just fucking unnerving. I've heard some positive things in the news lately about some of the higher ups in the organization getting busted and put away, so at least that's something. It's a tough slog of a watch, but fascinating watching how women just flock to this sick fucker.

I might have asked this before. But is Schitt's Creek actually good after it gets going? We tried the first few episodes and the family was irritating af. Couldn't ever get past it to see if we actually settled in and liked it.

The first 58 episodes are funny. After that the show is about the romances of the two kids and it just isn't as funny. Seasons 6 really isn't worth watching. At 20 minutes an episode, you could knock out 58 in a week. If you find Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara and Chris Elliott funny then you will like this show. Jennifer Robertson is funny at Chris Elliott's wife, but they run out of story with her in season 6.

If you find the family annoying it'd probably be tough to sit through. Even the truly funny episodes are chuck full of the family's hubris. It does have a bit of a taper off in late seasons, though we thought the first few were hilarious.
Lots more cringe humor than ha-ha humor. Watching a rich family try to cope with being stuck in nowheresville is really the heart of it.

Started watching a show called "Evil" on Netflix. Despite the really unoriginal name; it's a solid watch. Luke Cage stars as a priest in the making who is hired by the church to investigate cases to see if there is possession involved. Also stars dude from Lost and Person of Interest as the "bad guy". Seems like your basic CBS trying to be edgy show but it works.

I watched that when it started (last year?) and wanted to like it, but gave up after about 5 episodes. For me, it started to feel more like drama than suspense. The overarching story line was getting thin quickly...

Agreed. It is pretty low key considering it is supposed to be about the supernatural. We'll finish it out and see how caring enough to watch another season goes.
