Started season 2 of The Last OG on Netflix. Wasn't even aware it was out. Very quick watch. Fairly sentimental so far but still good.

I think the white supremacist group was fine in the flashback for Hooded Justice build up. Holding onto that shit in the modern era was just a bunch of "look how edgy we are now that it's cool to talk about race relations" bullshit. I didn't really feel that way about it until the last episode where they made it abundantly clear they gave zero fucks about relating that group into the story in a relevant way.

Honestly, I'd been enjoying the series right up to those final scenes. Then they pretty much went, "fuck you, gotcha" and drug the series kicking and screaming away from the Watchmen mythos by planting a super villain right smack in the middle of it all. Unless we're supposed to believe that killing off the white supremacists was a positive move and makes her a "gray" character, which is the kind of bullshit that's started to be held up as some ideal in certain circles, but that's a cop-out that skips right over morals and ethics in the name of purifying wrong-thinkers.

Too bad. They really seemed to be developing a nice alternative plot to the watchmen comics, but they didn't just drop the ball in the end, they spiked that fucker so hard it deflated.

Shoulda had Angela faceplant and break her neck in the fall before fading to black for good measure.

Gettin' real sick of shows giving you a positive build and then trying to fist-fuck you with the ending. HBO, you're about to get eliminated.

I was gonna let it run it's course and then watch, but fuck it.

I'm firmly convinced that no one can do a remotely good job of interpreting Frank Miller, Neil Gaiman, Michael Moorcock, Roger Zelazny or Alan Moore ever. They had a rough enough time and 37 attempts at it even for Stephen King, and that's pretty mainstream as far as fiction goes.

There was talk of an Elric series a while back and I just pleaded with the universe for it not to happen...never came to fruition thankfully.

For those about to say some shit, fuck American Gods.

Some more complaints about Watchmen: I didn't understand why there were those gay sex scenes. And why did they even bother inserting that scene with that Lube Guy who slides into a storm drain? Y'know, the more I think about it, the more I'm like "wtf?" and thinking the series was pretty lousy.

What fell out of the sky that night when Lady Trieu bought that farm? The rocket with Adrian Veidt in it? The rocket that landed so precisely on Europa comes crashing down into Earth? Elon Musk can get his rockets to stick the landing.

It had so much potential.

I'm with you on this series ... Just can't get into it. Reminds me of a poor filmed Marvel movie :o

One more Watchmen complaint: The next person to tell me it all wrapped up nicely is gonna get a fist of justice to the jaw.

A) Were they paying any attention at all? There were so many loose plot threads that never went anywhere at all.
B) Those of us that like Watchmen don't EXPECT nor do we WANT everything to be wrapped up nicely. This isn't a clean hero/villain universe. Fuck you.

I know, but he also published his journal and the world learned that Veidt dropped the squid on New York. Since that story line didn't happen on the tv show. It's possible that Rorschach will be the arch-villain.

I soiled myself last night re-watching Thunder Gun Express. I gave myself a heart attack laughing while listening to Frank narrate the hijacked riverboat cruise

I want to like The Witcher but so far I don't. Poor pacing, juvenile dialogue, and the music is shrill. Too bad.

well.... binged Witcher over the weekend with the Mrs.... I loved it.... the parallel time lines were cool and a smart way of telling the main character's back story... my ONE problem was Tris... in the game Tris was a hot ass Redhead.... Tris in the show looked like that crazy cat lady down the street....

Tried watching the Witcher but wasn't feeling it at all :idk:

Started and finished up Mrs. Maisel S3 instead  Great season that went quick. Some loose threads I was surprised to see get tied up but good choice to do so most definitely. The cast of this show is just superb in all their roles.

Watched the Bio on Linda Ronstadt on cnn last night . What a perfectionist and relentless working professional . She simply did what she wanted and never took no for an answer . Check it out !

I want to watch this.

We watched S2 of You. Is it wrong I like the biggest sociopath on the show more than the "normal" characters? Other than some of the irritating surrounding character personalities (which also plagued season 1); I liked it a lot. It ended on what I would say is a good note. Whether or not they decide to continue on or not for a S3.

Watching Lucifer. Shit "murder of the week" cop show combined with sorta funny humor based on the idea that he's actually Lucifer and nobody else believes it. His brother adds a nice element of lulz. I dunno, it strikes me as a background noise show aside from the conversations where they go round and round about his daddy issues and such. :idk:

Also almost done with Frasier, though the last few times we've fired it up it's been jumping networks. Was available on Prime. Next day, only available on Netflix. Next day only available on Hulu. And now it has a big CBS stamp on it and apparently will soon only be available on CBS's streaming service. We have a season and some change to go. I doubt we make it all the way through before it jumps to a service we don't and will not have.

This is the game we play now, folks. They'll move long-term shows around so you stop watching them to try to lock you into their new shit-shows on whatever services you already have. We're about one more hop away from dropping all the streaming services and watching the old box sets we have stocked up in the back room when we're desperate for TV time. It'd probably be healthier for us to get back to reading more anyway.

So what have I been watching over the last 5 months?

Glow - S3 - not the best season. I suspect the fourth will be the last.
Mindhunter - S2 - it had its moments, but I think it will get better.
Preacher - I will miss you.
Succession - S2 was pretty good and I suspect S3 will be better.
The Terror - Haven't finished S2 yet.
Sneaky Pete - S3 - haven't finished it yet.
Patriot - S2 - haven't finished it yet.
Mayans M.C. - S1. I didn't like it, yet I did finish the season. I doubt I'll start S2.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - S14. The gang never fails to deliver.
South Park - S23. Trey never fails to deliver. This was a great season.
Superstore - S5 has been funny, but it's getting a little long in the tooth.
The Flash - S6 - Ugh! Just die already Barry and stfu.
The Expanse - S4. I binged it in two days. Not the best season, but I still loved it.
His Dark Materials - meh, meh, meh, meh, meh.
Watchmen - My new favorite show.
The Righteous Gemstones - My second favorite new show.
Floribama shore - My secret shame. I love a good trainwreck.
Lodge 49. S2 went out with a whimper and the network pulled the plug. I don't regret watching it, but it's not on my recommend list.
Jack Ryan - S2. Good season, may there be more to come.
Lost in Space - S2 - I'm liking it so far.
Goliath - S3 - haven't finished yet.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel - S3 - not the best season, but still fun. There will probably be two more seasons.
High Seas - S2 - haven't finished and it's losing me.
Stranger Things - S3 - Not the best season, felt like a latter day Roger Moore/James Bond set. S4 will probably be the last.
Barry - S2 - A good laugh.
Silicon Valley - You will be missed.
Los Espookys - Pretty funny if you don't mind a show that's mostly in Spanish.
Gentleman Jack - meh. It has one note and it plays it over and over.
The Deuce - S3 - Why the 5 year jump in time David Simon? Turned into a suckfest just like Treme did in the last season.
Narcos - I binged 4 seasons in a month. S2 is my favorite.

What I'm looking forward to:
You
Curb Your Enthusiasm - S10
Ozark
Avenue 5
The Mandalorian
See
Locke and Key
Picard
Better Call Saul - S5 - Please be good, please be good, please be good.
The Orville - S3
Fargo - S4
The Boys - S2
Snowpiercer
The Ranch
Narcos Mexico - S2 (Felix Gallardo is a bad mammajamma)
