The Impossible 7/10
Pretty straightforward and a little hard to believe that it was true story but DANG it sure gave a great sense of what it would be like to "survive" a natural disaster on that scale.

Friday the 13th part 2 7/10.

Hadnt watched it in years. My wife bought a box set of the F13th movies. Loved all that shit when I was a kid. Out of that series, Parts 3 & 4 were always my faves.

Girl with the dragon tattoo - 9/10.. I've had it sitting in my collection for a long time unwatched... it was way better than I expected, far more graphic as well..

After Earth - 5/10 - held my attention well enough but I don't like Will Smith and I don't think I like his kid either. Story was predictable but the movie didn't feel as long as it was.

The Great Gatsby - 7/10 - I actually enjoyed the soundtrack and thought it was stylized well. The movie felt long and I can't stand Toby MacGuire. Cinematography was impressive and the feel fit Gatsby even if the story didn't fully adhere to the book.

Accepted - 4/10 - I like Paul Rudd and at least tolerate Tina Fey. This movie was a steaming pile of shit.

Looking forward to seeing The Purge...anybody have thoughts on it?

The Swedish version or the US?

Yeah, movie was all right, but the Mandarin is one of the epic bad guys in the Marvel U and they gave him a pretty piss poor treatment. I was hoping for an epic battle, with the classic technology vs. magic battle resulting in IM getting smacked down by the vastly more powerful antagonist and then winning based on his wits instead of raw power. Instead I got fucking Hollywooded.

No offense, but everyone who isn't a comic book nerd is probably much happier about it this way. ;)

Man, that's impossible. One is an epic movie that challenges the accepted best of the franchise (ST 3 - Wrath of Kahn) for top of the class, and the other an epic pile of cgi vomit that is solely redeemed by Obi Wan whipping Vader/Anakin's whiny ass, and showing the time-displaced origin of the rebreather as the sound of intergalactic evil.

Fixed those for you. I've heard RotS actually isn't terrible, but I just can't be bothered. TPM & AOTC are two of the worst big budget movies I've ever seen from the scripts to the acting to the directing to the horrific CGI abuse to the decimating of the mythos.

Solid analysis (for a noob). RotS isn't terrible but also really worth going out of your way to watch.

The Jedi Purge, Anakin choosing to stop Mace from arresting the Chancellor, killing of Dooku, Ewan and Natalie Portman, the last third of the movie is great. And besides the "NOOOOOOO!!!!" delivery, Hamill did the same thing in ESB. :cop:

The Jedi Purge should have been epic. Instead, it was typical Lucas letdown. "Hey, lets CGI the SHIT out of everything and ruin what should be an epic moment in SW history!"

He's good at that.

I'm happy for you that you can enjoy those movies. All they did for me was bring the originals down an eensy bit.

I can separate the OT from the prequels, they are two completely separate trilogies for me, after TPM, he seemed to cut the out bantha poodoo and it started to go dark. Not as dark as a filmmaker that he was 30 years ago, money made him soft. But star wars will always be my favorite thing ever.

Saw This is the End last night and I thought it was freakin awesome. It did have some pacing issues later on, but maybe it felt like that because it had a pretty great start. Go see it!

 Ahem.

Can't wait to see This is the End. The previews look epic as hell. I can't remember being more excited about a movie. Hell, if the "Hermione stole all our shit" line was the entire movie it'd be worth it.
