I’m attempting to set up a time. Probably next Friday but they only book a day or two ahead. Cal State one has JJ. After as much research as this failed student could do I am going to get the JJ. Still jumping on a speeding train but I gotta travel in the next few months. I must also get the new Real ID and y’all see where we are headed with vaccines ID cards and shit. Telling ya Mr. Dick was right. Fuck

Got an earlier appointment; the g/f and I get our first Pfizer jabs today, at a stay-in-your-car, mass-vaccination site.
It's scheduled for 4:15pm... curious to see how long the lines will be.

The g/f's 91 year old mom already had both Moderna shots and had no reactions, just a small bruise at the injection location. She's on blood thinners so, the bruise is not unexpected.

So, what I thought was going to be a "drive through jabbing" turned out not to be a drive through after all...
The g/f and I arrived at the Suffolk Community College campus, Long Island NY, about 15 minutes early and encountered the first of several check points. Two Army men, in camo, asked if we were here for our first or second jab. We replied, "first" and were told to take the left fork. We encountered a series of yellow cones that we had to zig zag around, for about 50 yards (45.7m), before arriving at the second checkpoint where another camo clad serviceman asked to see our appointment papers. After clearing checkpoint #2, we arrived at another and a third soldier pointed us in the direction of the parking lot where we found a space for our car. We entered the gymnasium lobby, where were a civilian asked us to read a a series of questions and speak our answers aloud (do you have a soar throat, fever, nausea, any body aches, loss of taste or smell, etc). After answering "no" to all questions, we proceeded to the next station to have our temperatures checked. We then proceeded into the very large, aircraft-hangar-sized gym, and met a row of 15 or so data entry workers, at a long desk, each with a laptop. The doorman directed us to data entry station number 8. So far, there weren't any long queues of people... in fact, no queues at all. The gentleman at station # 8 asked to see our appointment papers, Drivers Licenses and he entered our info into his laptop. He handed us informative literature about what to expect [after we receive the jab] and how to report any adverse reactions. We then waited less than a minute for one, of the 20 or so jabbing-stations, to open up. Our jabbing-station was staffed by a laptop operator and a jabber. More info was entered into the laptop and we were asked the same questions that we were asked in the lobby. The two, jab-station staffers informed us of the possibility of ill side-effects and asked "Do you want us to inject you with the vaccine", to which we enthusiastically replied, "Yes, please!". After receiving the vaccinations we were given a yellow post-it listing the time we were injected and the time were were allowed to leave the gym [after waiting for any possible allergic reactions]. They also gave us our CDC ID cards, listing the date and time of our second jabbing. The jab-station staff then directed us to a waiting area with socially distanced seating. My yellow post-it said, 4:02 / 4:18. At 4:18, with no signs of an allergic reaction, we headed for the exit where a uniformed policeman asked to see our yellow post-its. They weren't letting anyone out before their 15 minute waiting period was over!

After a challenging six weeks of trying to get an appointment, I was completely surprised by the efficiency of the jabbing process and the cheerfulness of the workers! I suppose that, had this been a for-profit-operation, the workers wouldn't have been in such a good mood.

I don't like the sound of any of it - multiple 'checkpoints' - can I see your papers - soldiers - not allowed to leave until they say - what is this country turning into??

Ha! Only criminals fear men in uniform!!! :D

I'm sure there are a lot of freaks who show up without an appointment and a few weirdos who have trouble following simple instructions.

It also depends on where you go and how big the facility is. Smaller places, not as much to do. But the checkpoints and places are so most of your stuff is taken down and answered before you get to the station where you get the jab, and also so folks are spaced out and not overloaded at one place. Also, the fifteen minute thing is to make sure you don’t have an anaphylactic reaction. Wouldn’t be good to just leave and have said reaction while driving.

LMFAO. It's set up and run by the National Guard along with the public health department (at least where I live). It's about order, efficiency and accuracy. I've had two shots and 14 covid tests and they were all run in a similar fashion. Both shots were 5 minutes getting through the line and getting the shot and a 15 minute wait. With the covid tests I was done and out the door each time within 5 minutes.

When I got my first shot they said I should stay for 15m in case of a reaction but that they couldn’t make anyone stay. I left. My experience was pretty pleasant and I was done in less than 15m.

I was shocked by how efficient the whole thing was. I just assumed it would be a clusterfuck of retards. Everyone was very friendly and it was a quick and painless experience.

I go next Saturday - hope it's as smooth as some of y'all have reported...

I scheduled an appointment online, walked up to the Pharmacy counter at Safeway to check in, got my shot within 10 minutes and was on my way :idk:

That's been my experience too, even when I took my mother in law for hers in late January, it was running smooth back then. It was working so well, our state was able to use that model to open more sites which is where I got mine and it was ran just as efficiently.

Got my second jab of Pfizer yesterday. I didn't react to the first one, but after this second one, my ears have been ringing off-and-on (I know, weird) and my teeth have been sensitive, like I can feel them in my mouth. And I also had a dream least night in which I was speaking Mandarin Chinese fluently. What's weird is that I normally don't remember my dreams even if I wanted to. I wonder if any of this has to do with the shot.

now that you mention it, I do recall that I had a weird dream after my second one. I don't remember the dream, just remember it was weird. Could have been the pot I smoked before bed though.

The second dose knocked me on my ass Saturday into Sunday. I had aches and chills and felt crappy overall. I got the jab at 2pm on Friday and didn't feel anything until my neck got stiff about 930 Saturday morning. Then it set in.

I feel perfectly fine now.
