Green Beret/backs are pretty unique. They're a bit honky, reduce presence/high end........but they're really great with most amps, IMO.
They do also reduce overall volume a little. Not sure if that's an issue or not?
Otherwise, the BL80 is nice (fairly flat response), as is the V30 (upper mid spike, but not as bad as a real celestion).
Hell, they're all pretty good........just depends on the amp and what you're looking to do.

Mostly just looking for a good "general use" speaker for when I just grab my combo and go jam without an extension cab.
Slightly less volume isn't a huge deal as the Bravo is somehow stupid loud for an amp powered by 2 EL84s.*
The BL80 looks nice as well. Hmm, this at least gives me a starting point in my search. Thanks!
*Totally relatively stupid loud obviously, but still, I'm not quite sure how they did it. Run them really hot I suppose?

I know jack about speakers, and my ears aren't super sensitive, but holy cow does the Bravo sound 100x better played through my 2x12 than it does through that stock Blue Marvel.
It's a 25w amp right? If so, the greenback clone would be a great match. Green Beret I think...

I'm really liking the HM 75s I just bought. Tighter and more balanced than the V30s I was using.

Ovid, get yourself some et65's. I know your taste in music, and it's going to be the jam for you. Seriously.

i play classic rock type stuff thru a marshall jcm2000, the clips ive seen on utube with a marshall and a GB just sounds right to me

I think only their Heritage level and the blue and gold are still made in england. That's just what I gatherered from a cursory internet search.

I love my ET-65/Vet30 combo. But, lately I've been thinking about going all ET-65.

Yep, we have agreed on this speaker in the past. I have a quad of them loaded up in
A '73 Marshall. Great speaker IMO.

Hella, they are middle ground between a gb and a v30 to my ears. Mids not as harsh as v30 and not as dark as a gb.

Hey Tom do the invaders hold up well in the lowend for low tuned metal

I think they do. They work well with my 7 string and drop c tuning(6 string)
What speaker do you currently prefer?

V30s have been a main stay for me, I still have the P50s in the Fryette FB cab, I'd love to have a speaker that is a mash of these

You may like the Celestion G12K100. I really like it for the lower tuned stuff. Killer bottom end and not that upper end harsh thing going on. I have a quad in another 4X12 that I really dig for that stuff.

I had a quad of G12K-85 I just sold a pair yesterday to my knowledge they are G12K100, I only like them when I have them cranked to ear bleeding volume, I may have to take a run at invaders, as long as the lowend is tight they maybe the middle ground I'm looking for

I have a pair of the Green Beret WGS and they are good but I recently changed over to the Celestion Heritage G12m speakers (one of them is the EVH G12 which is the identical speaker but cheaper) and for me it is an improvement worth the increase in cash. Better overall tone and clarity with the proper greenback cone breakup that one would expect. The Green Berets seem to have a more modern vibe to them and do not have the mojo I get from my Celestions.
