My concern is...what speaker do you mic? Do you mic the sub AND the driver? How many sound guys would be ok with that?

It seems a cool, if somewhat impractical idea, I guess.

True statement. ISP and Rivera. The rivera had two v30's on top and 2 12" powered subs on the bottom in a normal sized 4X12. The Isp is 2 2x12's and a 15" sub. They have been around for years.

I have tried the ISP version, it was ok. I prefer the stand alone sub and a standard 4X12. I use this setup live a couple times a month and sounds great. ymmv.

So what... you either have a retardedly woofy stage sound, seeing as you have to dial the amp in accounting for the fact that it'll only be the guitar speakers being mic'd, so you want that sound to be full to begin with... or you dial it in for what you'll hear on stage, and get a relatively pissweak sound going to the FOH? :|

It's interesting. I have no use for it myself but it's cool to see someone thinking outside the box (pun intended)

Rivera did it a couple of years ago :)

3x12, 2 12" speakers on top, and a JBL active sub downstairs.

Call me a douche, if you must, but I'm interested :D

In the amps and cabs.

My main axe is also a Schecter Hellraiser  I think they make great bang for the buck products.

No I'm not a scene kid ;)

It actually looks like a regular 4x12 from the outside, but one of the speakers has been replaced with combovers and Massengill.

Not for me... as much as I love adding EQ options, I would rather a regular 2x12 sitting on top of an active 2x12 sub. In the end, NOTHING beats a 4x12 with 100watts behind it.

I have a Marshall MF280B 4x12 that's only got 2 12's in it, and that damn thing will knock buildings over. Eminence bass amp / PA speakers on the cheap, FTMFW
