As for the VTM volume control, just add one of those little JHS volume boxes right before the VTM fx return. That will give you a master volume past the fx send levels.
Oh shit that's a good idea....I could probably even do that with an OD pedal with the gain turned off right?
I already have a zillion of those
An OD pedal would probably add color to the tone, even with the gain down. An EQ pedal would be better. Leave the EQ flat and use the volume slider only. But the volume box is really the best bet as it effectively adds the master volume to the amp without any extra circuit. I doesn't even require power.
There's a seller on Reverb that makes a cheaper one,Carl's Custom Amps, I think.

That's exactly what I do. The second (stereo out) goes into the EQ pedal on the left side of my board and into the effects return of my second VTM or power amp. I use the eq pedal just to match the levels.

I have not tried the Ultra Lead yet, but the SLO and 6505 sound different enough to me that I can justify keeping both. If I could only have one module though, it would be the SLO.
The rumor mill is that Synergy could possibly release a new version of the SLO with B/M/T for each channel. Would be in on one of those if that ends up being the case. The shared EQ has not been an issue for me up to this point, but I could see dialing in the Overdrive channel a little differently than the Crunch if I had that option.
I have a SLO modded JCA100HDM and I usually end up boosting it to sound more like my 5150, lol.

It's not just a rumor. Dave Friedman already confirmed the new SLO is coming out soon. No release date yet but it's a confirmed release. But I didn't have an issue with the shared EQ in the SLO module. The actual SLO has a shared EQ so Mike voiced the 2 channels to work with a shared EQ from day one.

According to UPS my SYN-1 and Soldano module should be here tomorrow (Friday), but who knows? UPS tracking is shit and their "scheduled to be delivered on" is 50/50 at best around here. I just bought a Deliverance module. Surprisingly an amp I've never played but have always been interested in.
