HOWEVER, the rectangle badge says 1960A, and that’s clearly a B cab, so a previous owner may have put whatever badge on it.
I used to play guitar.

Im pretty sure this cab had the back panel swapped as it says 1960a but this is definitely a 1960b.

It’s ok dude. You’re still in awe of actually having a legit 72 4 hole JMP. All other details are minor at best.

Oh I am over the moon about this rig. I knew there was something fishy with the cab when I bought it but didn't care because shits gotta match! The tones are stellar. I am ordering a PS-100 for it today so I don't go deaf though.

Congrats on the dream rig! I just noticed a Marguerite's Music sticker on the amp. That store was about a 10 minute drive from my house. I bought my first amp there in 1983 or 1984 (Peavey Audition 20) and started taking guitar lessons there around the same time.

Yes, that is where it was bought from. The seller went there to get it in 1975. I think it closed a few years ago? He was in Minneapolis and I am in Maplewood.

They relocated about 15 years ago after being in the same location since the 1960s or early 70s, then went out of business a couple years back unfortunately. Before they opened the Moorhead location they had one in either Minot or Jamestown, ND. When my dad first started buying gear in the late 1950s the Moorhead store wasn't open so he would drive to the ND location. It was either that or drive to Minneapolis back in those days.

I'm not a Marshall guy... but even I'll drool over that one.

I've often dreamed of a JMP 50 fullstack w/ greenbacks. Those are 30w, arent't they? Always thought a 30w fullstack with inefficient speakers would be a blast.

No the JMP 50s are 50 watts. The JTM45s would be closer to 30. I still want a proper JTM45 for my house.

Is the back panel made of plywood or chipboard?

My 1960ax cab is a more recent one (I think early 2000s). Back panel is chipboard, and it doesn't have the plastic corners.

Just noticed the gold piping around the baffle... that's different from my 1960ax (mine's white)

Also, so jealous of the B cab... would love to have that instead of the A

It is a chipboard back. I'm quite certain it is a circa 72 cab with a swapped out back panel and speakers from an 80's 1960a cab. It has never had plastic corner protectors and too much patina to be a newer reissue. Some late 71 cabs started having plastic side handles like this one has. But who knows if those are original either.

Thanks everyone! When I swap speakers later this week I'll get pics of the inside of the cab. Time to make some noise and try all 8 of my drive pedals with it!

Some observations after putting a good couple of hours in on this beast. The TMB knobs seem to do more on a 1987 vs my old 2204. They add lots more gain when you dime them. I tried most of my drive pedals I have and they all are amazing at what they do. My favorite for rock is my Rimrock Lil MO. It is the best Klon clone Ive tried. It adds this 3d layer of harmonics on every note. Ibanez TS9DX set to TS9 mode is as you'd expect. JRR OD1.3 is to my ears exactly like my old OCD 1.3 I had. Instant metal tones that adds Dual Rectifier like qualities. Catalinbreed Nagaviper is cool but Im still figuring it out as I never had a treble boost and just got it Friday. Caline Pegasus Klone clone is solid but lacks the 3d depth of the Lil mo. Amazon basics drive is an amazing tubescreamer copy almost identical to my TS9dx. Mosky Obsessive Overdrive is different enough from the JRR but still can be dialed close to it. This amp is quieter without a gate even with drive pedals on than either my 6505 or DSL 100H. Very low noise floor.

Just ordered the Fryette PS-100 to tame this beast and for the fx loop. Can't wait to try it out!
