aint gonna lie.. i dunno too many headphones you'd use in a critical application that don't benefit from a good amp... even grados. headroom never hurts.

you have a magni, fretless?

ah! yeah-- those cats seem to do some cool stuff. I gave the lyr a thought for a bit!
the magnius seems like a cool amp-- but i don't really need balanced ins or outs! i have an ifi idsd micro, and it's a great lil rig for single ended biz... i got nothin but regulars old 1/4" jacks!

Sonarworks Sound ID is a must. They have a headphone version as well as phones and monitors.
It makes the mix flat as @#$%. I have the Drop AKG 7XXX which are supported.

I ended up using the EQ in Total Mix and it made a big difference. I was able to even things out so my guitars don't sound tubby.

I'm using the Audio-Technica ATH-M40 X. I know most pro-mixers recommend not to mix on head phones, but actually I like it a lot. I can hear things far better in detail on headphones then on monitor speakers. Though it's EQ wise not as flat and a bit colored, so relistening on other sources (car, hifi, phone) is a good idea.
For reference; below 2 links of songs I mixed and mastered with this headphone.
