What video games are you playing?

dare I admit it? I'm a World of Warcraft nerd.

My friends tried to get me into it during quarantine and I refused.
Not because I have anything against the game but I've got serious problems with addiction to games that are heavy on numbers and grinding.

you were smart to refuse K-Biz. I've played MMO's since the late 90s, and they've always been super addicting. But WoW is now pretty much designed with that in mind. They invest heavily in the psychology of addictive gaming.

I feel like I'm a really weird place right now. Playing shit because I'm bored but I'm not really enjoying it but also I'm playing more than I ever have.

I've been putting HOURS into Civ VI but I'm kinda over it. Its super addicting to me though so if I fire it up at 10pm I'm playing til 2 at least I have something like 300 hours in the game since I bought it at release, might be time to move on.

I've been playing RDR2 but I don't find the story/setting that engaging so I can really see the gameplay loop. I'm not loving it.

Tried the Witcher 3, got so bored so fast. Coming off Fallen Order I just couldn't get with the janky combat.

I've found the older I get I need games to be more and more specifically tailored to my tastes or I don't really like them.

On Civ I can relate. I do not buy Civ games anymore because no matter when I start I don't quite before 1-4 am regardless of my next day. I cannot bring this pox upon my house.

For RDR2 say it ain't so. Arthur Morgan is bae. Maybe I was conditioned because I liked the first one so much but I absolutely loved the story. It definitely drags out longer than it should but I loved the story. So many fun and interesting characters. That said I 100% get the loop thing. Shoot, duck, run, shoot, steal the thing, return to camp/town/some other place with said thing to do the next thing. I also just loved the world/graphics on big as nice Samsung.

Yeah, I never played RDR1 and I've never really played any GTA games. So there are some quirks that I'm told are pretty standard for Rockstar that i find really annoying. I am liking the game a lot more than the Witcher. Everything about how it looks is awesome, I'm not sure why it isn't grabbing me. I've still been playing it fairly regularly so heres to hoping I'll get pulled in.

Maybe I should actually do the story quests instead of hunting/fishing


Side note, Civ6 with the latest expansion is the damn pinnacle man. Its so good.

Yeah PC combat for Witcher 3 killed it for me. Also, i prefer Civ V but they are all super addictive.

I am liking the game a lot more than the Witcher. Everything about how it looks is awesome, I'm not sure why it isn't grabbing me. I've still been playing it fairly regularly so heres to hoping I'll get pulled in.

Maybe I should actually do the story quests instead of hunting/fishing


Side note, Civ6 with the latest expansion is the damn pinnacle man. Its so good.

Ha yeah focusing on the main story will definitely suck you in more than hunting and fishing (which I also enjoy TBH). Arthur is such a fun character thats hard not to love. Sound track in the latter half of the game is great too.
I've always heard great things about witcher but have never taken the plunge.

As for Civ I'll just ignore that. I'm finally putting in less hours lately on gaming and its been a benefit to my mental health. Civ games really REALLY suck me in.

If you have a nice hotas set up then give elite dangerous a spin. It's not without its flaws but the space flight model is brilliant. I think it's currently on sale. You want the deluxe edition with horizons if you do go for it.

It's also totally insane in VR...

Yeah I was hunting and fishing because I enjoy it but it makes the game play loop more obvious. I did some main quest nonsense yesterday and was feeling it.

Its not like I have anything else to play anyway

I played EQ for years until I found WoW. Never got to try UO. EQ raiding back then took up a lot of my time. I don't even want to think about how many hours I spent doing that

I love strategy games, history, politics, etc.
All the things Civ throws together just strikes a bunch of notes that go well together in me.

This is especially true when I've properly resource starved another Civ while going HAM on technological development and get to use a tank against an archer or a dude with a musket.

I was playing Ark for a hot minute and every time by buddies and I would spend like 6 hours on our base, it would get raided while we slept. Season 4 of COD MW just dropped, Battle Pass grabbed.

It’s sort of a time suck, and I know COD isn’t for everybody but after the uber seriousness of PUBG and the complete idiocy of Fortnite (brother and nephew play) it’s a nice middle ground. Pick it up when I want to, leave it when I don’t feel like it. I grind it on my terms.

You should play DLC if you haven’t already! Honestly you should compete the 2nd DLC before New Game Plus because it adds a completely new upgrade system.

Wrapped up FFVIIR Remake a couple weeks ago. Ran through a play through of the Last of Us last week and this week to get prepped for part 2. Plus my wife never finished the first game and didn’t know the whole story. She tends to read her books and watch and listen to important parts when I play story driven games.

This is my 3rd play through of the game, DLC included lol... so the DLC will be played eventually... I think I just needed a little time away from the main game since felt like i JUST finished it and starting from scratch on NG+ just felt too grindy...

I can't seem to crack a strategy for getting a domination victory beyond prince level.

Season 4 of COD MW just dropped, Battle Pass grabbed.

It’s sort of a time suck, and I know COD isn’t for everybody but after the uber seriousness of PUBG and the complete idiocy of Fortnite (brother and nephew play) it’s a nice middle ground. Pick it up when I want to, leave it when I don’t feel like it. I grind it on my terms.

Just bought the full game a couple weeks ago. Its been decent so far. Just wish environments were destructable. I do love shooting through tarped fences and wooden doors though.. false cover is false lol

I'm somewhere between level 45 and 50 for the battle pass (bought), my 12 year old son is at 95 or something, he keeps talking about all the guns hes upgrading lol.. weird generation.. I don't give a fuck about gun stickers, paints and charms, but he's all about it.

He actually spent I think 1600 cod points (~$15) on a gun with purple tracer rounds. I just don't get it. Just get the next battle pass instead lol... anyways
