I'm so confused by the illegal hit calls. Ridley just took a shot to the head, knocked him out and its a fumble.

yet there have been 2 or 3 illegal hit to the head calls in the game before that. Be freaking consistent with those type of calls.

The only, ONLY reason Ridley fumbled is because he was out cold from his head getting rocked.

edit: Guess Ridley did drop his head. Call might be right. So freaking confusing.

Boldin just scored again. Damn.

Apparently there is no penalty for helmet to helmet on a running play. *The more you know!*

I'm all for player safety, but when the game involves 2 (or more) grown men smashing into each other, bad things gonna happen.

No head shots on QBs or WRs? Ok. But "defenseless receiver"? WTF is that? Can it GET more subjective?

Look man, here's my thoughts...

Player safety can only go so far until you just neuter the game completely. Know why all these passing records are being broken? Because back in the day, a DB could light a receiver right the fuck up however they wanted...Now, the rules have changed to cater to the passing game. Lead with your helmet? Flag and fine. Helmet to Helmet? Flag and fine. Hitting a defenseless receiver? Flag and fine.
Hit a QB in the head? Flag and BIG fine. Hit a QB below the waste? Flag and Fine.
Soon the rules will cater to running backs too.

The fact of the matter is, like you said, this is a game played by grown ass men who have been playing their whole lives and have known the risks since they started. After the rules above, the next step is flag football or two hand touch. How far do you take it, before you just say, "Well I guess this IS a dangerous game..."

My thoughts? Let them play...research CFE, helmet technology, etc...But just let them play.

The fine on every hit is idiotic. Especially for hits that weren't flagged. WTF?! If it wasn't a penalty, how the fuck can you fine the guy??

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I can't believe Simms and Nance haven't talked up the loss of Talib more. Oh wait....its Simms and Nance, Simms probably has no idea Talib isn't in the game.

I'll say the Ravens have surprised me. They are just flat outplaying the Pats in every aspect of the game. Its not a cheap win, its a slow, methodical, "We're better than you today" sort of win.

I know you weren't knocking the skill bro. And like I said, I know it isn't for everyone. It's one of those things that if you don't play, it's hard to watch. I HATED seeing golf on TV, until I started playing and really understood what it took to be that good  It's fun to watch, and the period between football and baseball season I watch golf on sundays now...College BBall if it's on, but I hate the NBA with a passion so I ignore that.

Like, I can't STAND soccer...I think it is about as boring as it gets...same goes with hockey...But I never liked playing soccer growing up, bored me, and hockey is soccer on ice...So i get where you're coming from

That bold part you literally took the words out of my mouth. Sunday now consists of turning on the TV and watching whatever tourney is on. May be going to the Shell Houston Open this year finally :D Though I don't ignore NBA entirely, I'll watch the good marque game but not religiously. Same goes for soccer but at a far less extent. Don't wanna watch 2 hours of ball passing with an occasional score. Hockey gets my attention slightly when playoffs start.

as to football:

Harbaugh ball is nice and all but I'm sure we're all gonna be sick of that story line over the next 2 weeks. I know I will "one likes apples the other likes oranges, one prefers Chevy the other Ford, What do the parents think?, etc" may have to ignore ESPN for the next 2 weeks.

How about some predictions for that game?

Baltimore played as perfect a game as they could have. In the process, they beat the stuffing out of the Pats.

Brady should have had that first down. But he bitched out. He is obviously no longer willing to give up his body outside of the pocket. It wouldn't have necessarily changed the outcome of the game. But, should he have gotten it, would have fired up his team.

The Ridley hit was a killer. I am a bit on the fence about the fumble call. But whatever. Baltimore was seriously dominating at that point anyway.

Gronk could have and probably would have made a huge difference. But again, whatever. It is what it is.

The better team won by a mile. In both games.

I hope San Fran takes a wet, stinky, watery shit on Ray Lewis' retirement party.

I hope the Pats really start looking for Bradys' successor. He's not completely done yet. But the bloom is definitely off the rose by a mile.

The best/worst part of the day was watching the Falcons phone it in...Again.

I wanted them to win, but they lost in EPIC fashion so I guess it's ok.

i was VERY happy to watch my niners beat the fail out of the falcons (not really, the fail will NEVER be beaten out of them). also happy to see the ravens beat the patriots...i think the ravens will be easier for my niners to beat in the SB.
