I bet I could work a deal here but if I do I'll blow the current deal I have with Pittman and I don't want that . I can't take both so sadly I don't think I'll get this but I already feel like it's the one that got away .

I've built plenty of more "traditional" style guitars, and I have a couple coming out, one of which is already sold, but one that is a very nice double bound T-style, but is not not a Lawyer guitar with uber fancy expensive woods, etc. Thing is, I build Lawyer guitars at workingman prices. But, after NAMM/February 1st, that is gonna change and sadly, may put them out of reach of some folks.

What is happening is, I'm losing my ass selling these handmade, exotic wood laden guitars with very high end "luxury" appointments for barely more than I have into them in parts, woods, other materials and maybe a tiny taste for me when it's all said and done. But, I can't pay the rent that way and continue to make instruments. So, I have to restructure how I price things, as well as some changes in how I "tier" my "model line".

Sadly, it may take the "Lawyercasters" out of the reach of some players, and as a consequence there will probably be fewer of them, but there will still be plenty of really nice guitars to be had at prices that are affordable.I mean, I gladly give discounts and considerations to people, but I can't continue to not pay the rent.

If someone wants a completely handmade guitar that really should cost upwards of $3000.00 - $3500.00 for $800.00 (I've actually had that happen), then hey...

Look at the response to the ones you've posted on Insta and even the "Finishing Services, I'm back" thread here. People went nuts over the Sherwood Green Tele and all those sparklies. I honestly think your workingman / traditional guitars will sell better than the Lawyercasters, which is really a niche market. It's gotta be tough finding buyers willing to go all-in on something so unique with exotic woods, binding, and high end options. Well, one's that aren't suckers like me anyway...

Regardless, I am glad I got in on the ground floor, and good luck with this sale...

I know a guy who sort of does this. He doesn't take custom orders. He says it's not worth the headache of not meeting the customer's always-changing and unrealistic expectations. He sort of has a customer base who must be wealthy, as he sells every guitar he builds. And I don't think he builds more than 10 a year. Of course, repairs are his bread-and-butter.

Oh, that business model and company credo will remain. although it is a bit of a joke while at the same time being snarky and sacastic, and just a wee tiny bit serious.

I'm not gonna do fully custom guitars with neck shapes and widths tailored for each individual who wants one, custom body shapes, or build just custom parts for guitars. I just can't do that cause too many people want too many different things, and as a one man operation, it would be impossible to be all things to all people. I will, if someone orders a piece, tweak it a bit to get closer to what they may be after with pickups, hardware, appointments, wood types, etc., but that is as far as I can reasonably go. I just can't do custom re-tooling and make new templates for new builds that I will never make again that come along.

I have been considering a new shape on one model. I haven't got around to drawing it yet though.
