I don't like it so much when people swear by keeping the guitar perfect, with no dings or scratches. Play the thing, let it have some character.

With that said... I'm not into relicing my self. But as you may realise I am fond of a guitars character. I have no problem buying a used guitar that has dings and scratches in it. At the end of the day it is the playability factor that is most important, then looks (and dings and scratches give the guitar character ;) ). I would not buy a guitar that was new and 'relic'd', but I can see why some people might.

I have an MJT Custom Jag I had made with a closest clean nitro finish. This thing can age properly with me using it. This is how I like guitars, properly aged.

I play the shit out of my guitars, I just take good care of them so most of them look like the day I got them.. Sorry if you don't like that but i do... :)

That's cool, it's all subjective.

I voted no, because most new reliced guitars usually look fake.

Someone at the guitar factory probably messed up a few guitars in production, then told their supervisor they were making reliced guitars.... and the idea stuck.

That being said, I have reliced a few partsocasters that I've built. In fact, thanks to Kage, I've learned a new relicing method:
Kage wrote:I reliced it over time using the Whiskey method; Drink and then abuse the guitar with whatever was around which in this case was a heatgun and and a Kabar knife.

Really depends on the guitar, but I would only vote for no because of the ridiculous price of them. Remember Clapton's limited ES-335? Weren't those sold for $12,000 each? Or was it for more?

It depends on the guitar. Fenders look cool with dings, for instance. LP's and PRS, not so much.

Or the Jeff Beck Gibson Oxblood Les Paul with wrap around bridge for only $15,000 to $20,000. As much as i love Jeff and would love to have a signed guitar by him, no freaking way, even if I were rich I wouldn't even consider that.

Not to mention the Esquire too. That would be already a new Honda for me.

Ironically you could quote me on saying this exact same thing generally :cop:

If you like that look, just use the guitar without a case. It will get there quick enough.

Not a fan. The majority of guitars I've bought have been bought used, so I have no problem with honest wear. But paying a premium to have one look beat-up is just... stupid.
